Hey !

Author Update

Book five (out of six) of the Hidden Heritage is moving forward at a great pace! Though I realized just recently that my normal word count goal for this book is not going to be enough. It's not that uncommon for the later books in the series to run longer as the story and characters get more complicated, but I have been proud thus far to keep them pretty close to the same. Despite pushing up the word count goal, I'm still at 90% done with the first draft.

Final edits are still going on with book three (Dwarf Blooded) but if you have joined the Ream community, you'll get the final chapter of that book next week. Be excited, because it means that you get to start reading book four (Fairy Blooded) starting the week after. Ever wanted to see what it's like in the brain of a half-Samoan, half-fairy teenager who can read minds? You're about to find out. Also, if the end of book three doesn't make your jaw drop I'll be shocked. ;)

September's short story is now available!

"Marked by the scar of a forbidden oath, Clavin has spent fifteen years hunting the very mages who share his curse. His eyes burn red, and the world sees him as nothing more than a monster. But only this forbidden magic can fight itself--and Calvin has sworn to wield his power to protect the innocent, no matter the cost.

When a violent encounter in a dusty saloon exposes his true nature, Calvin is thrust into a deadly confrontation with a secret brotherhood of mages.

Outnumbered and despised, he must decide whether his vow of protection can withstand the lure of corruption, or if the very magic he wields will finally consume him.

A gritty tale of sacrifice, vengeance, and the thin line between salvation and condemnation, The Crimson Oath is perfect for fans of dark fantasy and morally torn heroes."

Homestead Update

For the most part, things are just plugging along with the homestead and family. Right now, we're trying to figure out the right amount of feed to give the pigs. They act like they are starving no matter how much we give them, but the balance we're seeking is giving them enough to keep them growing, but not growing TOO fast. So far they have managed to dig a bunch of holes through the gravel, some of which are deep enough that their little heads just poke up out of them. Creating a nice puddle (or wallow as it's called) is their ultimate goal, even if they have plenty of shade.

We've been harvesting like crazy over here, enjoying the fresh peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. Growing season is far too short where we are in Idaho, but we try to take advantage of whatever we get when we get it. The kale primarily goes to Lucy because we learned from her previous owners that it's her favorite food ever. Her eyes go wide every time she smells it or even sees it. I'm pretty sure she'd break out of her pen if she knew exactly where it was in the garden.
