Finishing Cow Houses and Getting Ahead
Nov 14, 2024 4:11 pm
Hey there!
We are breathing a sigh of relief as the outside work is coming to a close. When I say 'outside work', I of course, mean the extra things. We'll still go out twice a day to feed and water all the animals as well as milk our cow, but that's par for the course. There may actually be some Saturdays that aren't filled with tons of work in the near future! After all, there isn't much to do outside when it's frozen solid for five straight months. That said, I'm proud to say that I finished Ginger's house, much to her pleasure. You can see she's thrilled to have a place to stay warm and dry.
Aside from her and her calf's cozy home, we spent the majority of the last two weeks (post work and on saturdays) doing the final touches on picking up tools, kid toys and other things before the snow covers it up. Part of this is gathering the leaves from all our massive trees (very poetic, I know). Leaves are free bedding which can be used for our chicken coop. Why not save on this by using natural resources! Plus, the chickens love to peck at them. I'm pretty sure we gathered at least twenty huge bags of leaves if not more. The kids had a blast playing in them, and now we have a half-year's worth of bedding for the chickens.
My Progress This Week
Progress slowed down a bit this past couple of weeks on account of the mad rush to get things prepared for winter. Still, I'm happy to say that I did make a bit of progress on Fairy Blooded, book four of the Hidden Heritage Series. I'm just up slightly over 16k words, with the expectation that it will likely be near the 100k as the first three books have been. Technically, according to my 'publish a book every six months' schedule, this puts me ahead. I'll never complain about being a head.
Chapter four for Demon Blooded is now up on Ream if you are interested in getting early access to the story. Just click here to join the community!
