Updates from Dan Kenner

Hey there!
Just when I am clapping myself on the back for finishing another author update email, another week flies by! I wish I could say that I made the most out of the week and wrote thousands upon thousands of words, but let's be honest, sometimes you have life to take care of, and there is nothing wrong with that. They say that any progress is better than no progress, and I'll cling to that forever.
On that note, how do you feel about this update email? Is it coming too often? Is there something you wish I'd add more of? Less of? I'd definitely love to serve you better!
My Progress This Week
Dragonblooded continues to be ravaged by both BETAs and the line editor. As I'm chilling in this 'waiting phase', I'm mentally preparing myself to open up the bloodied manuscript (red pen corrections) and put the pieces back together. Don't worry, I know it takes some beating to get the book in a better place. I appreciate all those who are helping out! That said, I've put my fingers back to work and started on book 2 of the series, which I'm calling-- (drum roll please)-- Demonblooded. The first few thousands words are the hardest, but I've made some headway with it already.
As for book three of The Kids of Cybercity, I'm pretty sure I wrote the most fun part of the book since we started the series. The end. Okay, we aren't technically at the end, but I wrote what are possibly the last chapters I am supposed to write before the series ends. Of course, being the discovery writers we are, my co-author may bump it back to me once more before we wrap up, but I have to admit, I geeked out the whole time I finished my last writing session. You are going to love what we've come up with.
And, just to pump you up for the books (coming later this year we hope) here's what I imagine the outside of Cybercity looks like thanks to Midjourney AI!
The Podcast Show for Everyone
A couple years ago, I found myself stuck at home during the pandemic reflecting on how I had no author community. If you're like me, then doing something in complete isolation feels so much more challenging, especially something so challenging as publishing. All I wanted to do was make connections with other authors and learn more about the industry.
So I did something about it! I started The Casual Author. The podcast where you get a little flavor of my life, but a lot of connection with other authors, like myself. Whether you want to know more about my writing, my family, or my homestead, or you want to lean skills and insights from other authors, you'll want to check out the podcast (over 85 episodes so far!)
Now, keep in mind that I've taken a little break for the past couple weeks due to homestead busy life, but I'll be picking it back up soon!
Signed books available
Sometimes you just need that good, solid, physical book in your hands to put a smile on your face. It's an extra bonus if that book is signed by the author themselves! I'm thrilled to say that my new site finally has everything in order for you to grab autographed copies of my books sent directly from me.
It's never too late to grab a signed copy.
Saying Goodbye to Some Goat Babies
For the past few months, we've been trying to find homes for the goat babies from this year's breeding. Normally it's not too challenging to find places for them to go, but whether the market is slowing down for these cute little guys, or it's too saturated, we've still got a few of them running around. As much as we love having the babies, they are a bit of a strain on resources until we can sell them.
Fortunately, we had someone finally stop by with interest in taking one of them home! If you don't know anything about goats, know that they are herd animals. That pretty much means if you only have one, they are usually not happy about it. Goats by themselves tend to be depressed and sad all the time. Given that fact, the person who came to grab one of the wethers for a pet decided to take home his half sister too. We're so glad they have a family to be with!
The last little doeling who was just re-homed!
