New Kittens Join the Fray!

Hey there!
It's been a great week for the Kenners in both the family aspects, the homestead, as well as my authoring. We are T-one week until our first goat is due to have her kids, so a lot of preparation work is going into that. Despite the craziness, I've still managed to keep the ball rolling forward with my authoring, from adding Ebooks to my direct sale store, to finishing up small projects. But let's get to what you really want to see.
As you may have guessed from the title, our barn cat had a new litter of kittens recently. Coincidentally, the girls of the litter are all speckled with orange, brown and black, but the boys are black and white. I know very little about genetics but it seems in her past litters this has been the case.
My Progress This Week
I'm making some slow, but steady, progress on Book 3 of The Hidden Heritage series. Dwarfblooded is now at just under 26,000 words. There's nothing like putting your protagonist through the ringer so early on in the book, but for this half Dwarf, half-human girl - let's just say she's not having the time of her life at the moment.
I was able to submit my next short story to Writers of the Future last week (honestly I'm impressed with myself for not missing three deadlines in a row!). Right before I sent it in, I realized it needed a fresh title. Also, I decided that their ability's name didn't jive with me, so I shifted that. Regardless, the name of the short story is now 'Between Life and Death.' I've started dabbling in making covers for my short stories myself (despite the steep learning curve) so once I have a workable version I'll share that with you here!
In some rather exciting news, I've posted the next chapters to Dragonblooded, The Etcher's Plight and my previous short story, Darkness Incarnate, on my Ream community page! If you want to get early access to these chapters and short stories, I'll be posting some every month from here on out. Who doesn't want early access to awesome epic and YA fantasy stories?!

Bringing the reader into your world is an important part of being a fantasy author. But sometimes, we need to bring a little bit of our world into the fantasy world's reality.
