Plans for the New Year?

Hey there!

And just like that it's already almost the end of January. I'd like to think that time will eventually slow down but I can't kid myself. It just gets faster and faster. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just something I need to wrap my mind around.

The kids have been having a blast out in the snow recently, even though it's warmed up to melting point. They took a nice bit of slushy snow and shoved it all together for a skinny version of Olaf. I personally think it's quite a spitting image. ;)

This year has a lot of potential and unknowns, but we're learning to take it all in stride and move forward with hope and confidence that if we are positive and hopeful, it will turn out as good as previous years. One thing that adds a delightful amount of surprise is that we are expecting baby #7 to join our family this summer! This one, coincidentally, is due right on my birthday. (That would be a great birthday present!) Still, we're doing what we can to make this year a great one despite the uknowns.

What are some of your resolutions or goals this year?

In all honesty, goals don't come easy or always go well for me. I heard recently that there are many people who find that specific goals such as 'write daily' or 'exercise' three times a week are often frustrated when things don't work out perfectly. Well I'm one of these. So, the piece of advice they gave was to have more change based resolutions. An example of this might be 'I will be more active this year', or 'I will focus on deeper relationships'. These allow us to consider small (or large) changes we can make in our lives to progress and become better than last year.

That said, along with the two that I listed above, I'm hoping to be more community focused for my authoring than I have been. I also want to rediscover the love I have for writing. It's never gone away, but I want to drill into it more so that it doesn't get lost in all the 'busy' work that comes with being an author.

My Progress This Week

I am thrilled (and a little bit overwhelmed) to say that the first draft of Demonblooded is complete! It capped out at almost exactly the same word count of Dragonblooded (which for my discovery writing brain makes me very happy). That puts me at three completed novels that I need to dive into editing. Now I just have to get the courage and mindset to actually get to that.

If, like me, you don't love waiting to actually get to read books until they are published, you can actually get early access to this book, and any other book that I'm in the process of writing. Who doesn't love early access?! All you have to do is check out my Ream Page. You would be supporting me as well as getting to read my books early.
