Full Moon in Svātī, Libra

Dear Friend,
The month of May begins with a Full Moon in Svātī Nakṣatra. Svātī speaks of individuality and personal freedom, and it carries the symbolism of Vāyu, the wind god. There is something quite instructive with Svātī and Vāyu. The wind does not insist on one direction. If it cannot move through a space, it simply shifts course and continues. It does not stop.
This Full Moon reflects that same tendency. There can be a strong inclination to move forward in one’s own way, to explore different perspectives, and to learn through experience rather than instruction. At the same time, there is a subtle difficulty in receiving criticism. It is not always a direct rejection, but like turning away from it. Like the wind meeting a closed door, there is no confrontation, just redirection.
If this goes unnoticed, it can become a pattern where we keep moving without really pausing to understand what needs correction. But if we handle it with awareness, this becomes one of the strengths of Svātī. The ability to shift our thinking is not a lack of stability here. It is adaptability. It is the recognition that thought does not have to remain fixed, and that it can respond to circumstances as they arise.
The transformations indicated during this fortnight do not have to be outward or dramatic. Much of this movement may happen internally. A shift in perspective, a reconsideration, or even a softening of a rigid stance can be just as significant. The imagery of Vāyu moving through everything, touching everything, without stopping, captures this well. There is something continuous about it, something that is always in motion.
Following this, the Venus–Saturn sextile brings in a more grounded and practical tone. This is a good time to look at how we are managing our resources, particularly in terms of finances and responsibilities. It is not about restriction, but about structure. Venus shows what we value, and Saturn indicates whether we are handling those values in a way that is sustainable.
In simple terms, this can be a moment to reassess commitments or spending. Not from a place of fear, but with a view to have clarity. What is actually supporting the life we are trying to build, and what is not? Small adjustments made here can have a lasting impact.
There is a line from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring that comes to mind: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” This fortnight reflects that quite well. There is movement, but it benefits from direction.
