Hi Everyone,

Your exco recently reached the 100 day milestone ! As I look back, the thing that has struck me most is the constant 'hum' of the engine of APSS that happens outside of the 'events'. The networking nights, monthly meetings, Speakers academy are all things that you see 'on stage' but the back stage hum is different: 

The hum of trying to create new systems & processes so that capacity can be built for the next decade of the association. Whether it is reimagining how things were done or adding tech capabilities or experimenting with formats. 

The hum of decisions planning and coordinating with speakers, marketing, run sheets and more that make sure events happen seamlessly with planning horizons sometimes 3 months in advance. Figuring out how we can try and do hybrid meetings and the infrastructure that will take. 

The hum of keeping up with sister associations and GSF activities and call for speakers and other external agencies that need something from us be that audit capabilities for CSP applications or financial transactions & getting them moved online for seamless functioning. 

I could go on but the point is, the hum is in service to the community that we have and it is all done by volunteers of the exco and members of the community who have stepped up to support different sub-committees. There are Past President mentors who we lean on for guidance and support and many conversations happen with members that no one ever even hears of but it allows us to build something together.

This is why it is about #RiseStrongerTogether or #RST in APSS. 

I am looking forward to seeing you at our first upgraded monthly meetings happening very soon.

Also, keep an eye out for the mentoring process about to kick off by the end of this month. Applications will be opening soon. It is one of the finest traditions of APSS that only gets better every year. And don't miss out on the end of year party announcement coming soon as well.
