When we were young, we often played the game "Truth or Dare". If we chose DARE, often we'd feel flurries in our stomach, a sense of anticipation or fear. What if we got too scared and can't do the DARE?

The speaking journey is not for the faint-hearted. We are subject to the external environment, where change is a constant. We continuously face our inner critics, who tell us, "Who are you to speak about that?" We are sometimes face down in the arena.

In moments like these, we have a choice: Fall flat on our face and wait for others to save us, or stand back up and face the obstacles boldly. 

At APSS, we choose to stand up. Our 20th year is the year of the Mavericks. 

A Maverick is willing to push boundaries and continuously reinvent so they can be at the frontier of new possibilities.

Why DARE+ as a theme?

In line with this, the APSS Convention's theme is DARE+. Choosing to stand up means, inevitably, obstacles will land on our path. A Maverick does not give up. Instead, a Maverick dares to: 

   •⁠ ⁠do what is difficult even when no one else is doing it

   •⁠ ⁠dig deep within to unlock their inner genius, so that the obstacles        

       become fuel for greater things

   •⁠ ⁠try new things even when it feels scary, uncertain or volatile

Because that is what Mavericks do. When we DARE, we see beyond what is present into the future, allowing us to innovate and stand out above the crowd. When we DARE, we turn obstacles into opportunities. The + is thus about possibilities, adding value and impact to those we speak to.

The Asia Professional Speakers Convention (APSC 2024) is looking for powerful, diverse & insightful speakers to deliver highly interactive, fascinating, and engaging presentations (not just another keynote) at our annual convention. 

The convention's theme is DARE+. If you are a speaker who has dared to push your limits, challenge your comfort zone, or leveled up your business in innovative ways, we would love to have you! Speakers are expected to present and attend the convention in person on the 10th & 11th May 2024 in Singapore.

Kindly note that the APSS is a voluntary organization and the annual convention is our way of giving back to the speaking community. None of the speakers will receive a fee for their contribution to the convention.
