This free app has just blew my mind.

This free app has just blew my mind.

Ulrik Wisløff a PHD from Norway developed an algorithm which works out a thing called AQ formalaly know as PAI (personal activity intelligence)

What is AQ? It stands for activity quotient.

AQ measures if you are physically active enough so that you will get a healthy and long life. The concept is easy: Keep your AQ score at 100 points or more. In that way, you will reduce your risk for lifestyle diseases and early death.

AQ is based on extensive research from NTNU and is recommended by leading exercise researchers and cardiologists worldwide. AQ is suitable for anyone. Both those that never have worked out before and for the ones that already are physically active regularly.

Research shows that those who achieve 100 AQ or more every week over time live on average eight years longer than others. Moreover, improving the quality of these years.

What is really important is this is individual and changes as you get fitter.

For example I get 0 AQ for a walk as my heart rate is too low, while some of my clients will get all their AQ with walking. Same for strength training ill not get any points however it is still essential to do.

The Mia health app calculates and tracks your AQ, it’s free, there is also paid version if you want more details. You’ll need to have a heart rate based, Activity tracker, like Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, and others.

You can get the app here for iPhone MIA Health

And for android

Does AQ relate to fat loss? I would guess yes. Having your AQ at or near 100 would show you are pushing more energy through your body. Having your AQ at 100 has benefits after benefits in positive adaptations.

For the people under training there cardiovascular system it’s such an eye opener.  “Even those who achieve 50 PAI every week have considerable health benefits compared to those who are inactive.”

I would monitor for a week and see what score you get if it's less than 100 try to increase it little by little each week.

Is there benefit in going over 100 AQ?

Getting more than 100 AQ doesn’t necessarily yield extra benefits, and could lead to over training which could lead to burnout.

So check it out and speak soon
