Dear all,

Today, there is an event starting called Aldeia (village) Djembe Camp. It’s an event dedicated to West African drumming and dancing and it takes place in Portugal, my Heimat. I have been part of the organising team since the very beginning. Actually, not really at the start, but, naturally starting taking more responsibility. And guess what I am doing?…Bookkeeping with Google Sheets, of course? 😅🤓

I first started playing Djembe back in 2002 in my hometown of Almada and there I became good friends with another André who is now also organising the event with me. Then in Berlin I met the other two, who complete the team. Hobbies with international traction do tend to create strong, lasting friendships.

The event is growing, and drawing more people from Portugal and Spain. And it is also a lot of work for a minimal return. But it doesn’t matter though, it’ all created out of passion for this culture and out of long lasting friendships. It will get bigger and my sheets will be better too!

Besides German, the Djembe has been one of my longest “relationships” ever! So here I am, living in Berlin and managing a Djembe event in Portugal. I wonder if in many years from now you will still be receiving these emails from me, blabbering about stuff and trying to get one excited about ETFs 😽

Well, I am seriously counting on it, as I have been enjoying the ride very much and would actually love to hear some feedback from you!
