Greetings dear Chroniclers,

Since my book series, Liminal Chronicles, is set in Japan, I like to read about the belief sets there—Shinto and Buddhism. It's been amazing to read about how they both intertwine in people's lives and that much of Japan doesn't seem to claim a religion. Going to a shrine or temple is just a part of being Japanese. One does not convert to Shinto. One simply practices it...

So I'll share a few of my favorite resources on Shintoism. Much of what these authors share is free to the public.

David Chart, a naturalized citizen of Japan who works for Jinja Honcho (the association of Shinto shrines), writes essays and shares news

and his blog: https://www.mimusubi.com

The Jinja Honcho website has a great introduction to Shintoism and visiting shrines.

I hope you enjoy the readings too!

I like to review what to do whenever I have the opportunity to visit a Shinto shrine since I don't get to visit often. Have you ever visited one?
