AWV🦊 Hinamatsuri Girls' Day + free books

Greetings dear Chroniclers,

Winter bared her teeth this February with bitter, bitter cold. Thankfully, this week we're seeing strong hints of spring! It's been lovely to get outside the last few days. I hope you have at least equally good weather!

Hinamatsuri

Today is Hinamatsuri also known as Girls' Day or the Doll Festival. (Matsuri means festival.) Around the late February, families, museums, and companies put up beautiful displays. Dolls representing the Emperor and Empress are placed at the top of the display and various elements of the Heian Era court are below them. I'll share a few of the displays we saw when hubs and I were in Japan during the festival.

People pray for girls' health, prosperity, and happiness. Food may include Chariashizushi - a rice bed topped with colorful vegetables, thin egg omelet, and seafood.
