How to hold on and hold your power

I remember as a kid seeing this picture below in one of my teachers' classrooms. This was back in the day when we only had limited access to visuals like this. They had to happen in person. . .no memes at the touch of your finger scrolling.
It was such a good reminder for me. I was voraciously bullied for many reasons, none of which are important to highlight in the context of my current thought but, seeing this cat hanging in there helped me.
This Saturday marks the umpteenth month of drama worldwide, it seems. Living here in BC, Canada, we’ve just survived another raging reminder of climate change and yet another one is around the corner. Never in my life have I heard of an ‘atmospheric river’. It never occurred to me that the sky would ever open up and deliver such moisture all at once; on average 100 millimeters of rain a day (that’s 4 inches!).
But, when the crises come in waves and it feels like the planet itself is voraciously bullying its inhabitants, I choose to remember the cat in the picture from my childhood.
“Hang in there. . .it will be over soon”
It’s bold and audacious to hold out hope but, if there is anything I do remember about my childhood that’s helpful in addition to the cat, is that I survived it. And, I will survive this too!
And so will you, my friend. So will you,
