How do I thrive in the digital future?

Happy Saturday,

Last week, I was asked to speak on the East Coast to a group of project managers. It is a common ask and this one was no different. Sadly, it was again over Zoom instead of face to face. (I do miss travel, how about you?) Except that the more I am asked, the more I am being pushed to stay relevant with the emerging trends and digital age.

My ongoing research into digital transformation and AI consistently lead me to believe that keeping people at the centre of our work is still of paramount importance. In fact, it will remain the most important, I think, as our humanity defines us. We cannot be separate from it. And, if my belief is in fact true, then what we have living knowledge of already is the most important expertise we can possess in the coming future.

If you've watched the extremely popular Netflix movie, “Don’t Look Up”, take note of one of one of the final scenes. . .when it all comes down to it, we never cease to be human and our connection to the simplicity of being human is all that really matters.

I want to be more human in the coming months and years of my life. I want to stop apologizing for it and lean in. As a project manager, I want to value people ahead of everything else and I believe that means I will never have to suffer regret.

To the humans out there,
