A Valentine reflection on life, love and other mysteries

Happy Saturday, ,
This coming Monday is Valentines Day. This day is fraught with danger for some as it is often referred to as Single Awareness Day or SAD. In my own life I have spent most Valentine's Days as a partnered, cisgender female. What this has meant for me is flowers, chocolates, wine and usually love-making. I recognize that might sound wonderful to some but for those who are uncoupled, it's probably not good news.
But Valentine's Day doesn't have to be reserved for just romantic lovers. In fact, as humans in need of connection, we need the day as a reminder that love comes in many different styles, shapes and forms. One of the most beautiful ways to love is to simply share time and space with someone. Whether it's a family member, friend or even foe, as humans, we are meant for connection with one another. Even at the grocery store checkout, a smile and a kind word is a way to express love and all of us need to feel that, in the big and the small moments.
"We all live different lives with different realities but we are all human and meant for love."
So, I wish you well this coming Valentine's Day. I hope you can find some way to express love for someone else whether it's in conscious-coupling or simply in being open to seeing good in everyone.
Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours.
Love you,
