Multitasking - screwing up several things at once

A wise person once said that multitasking is just an opportunity to screw up several things at once. What do you think? Is that true for you or are you able to keep multiple things on the go with success?
Multitasking is proven to reduce focus, increase feelings of stress, and exacerbate impulsiveness. It also worsens performance, which can lead to further negative feelings. All in all, it’s risky business.
So, what do I do??? I’ve built my entire career on multitasking. I’ve raised a family doing it and now I discover it was bad and ultimately caused me to screw things up?
An article I read from verywellmind.com on multitasking makes some great suggestions:
- Limit the number of things you juggle at any given time to just one task.
- Use the "20-minute rule" and devote total focus for 20 minutes on one task at a time.
- Batch your tasks by scheduling a set time in your day to tackle them.
- Limit distractions to ensure focus.
- Practice mindfulness to improve your ability to focus and pay attention to one thing at a time.
Perhaps I need to rethink? What about you?
