Next Monday I will start to host the virtual networking for our local PMI Vancouver Island Chapter again. It’s the first of a series of 4 sessions that will happen on Mondays for 1 hour.

Last Fall, I hosted a series of 6 networking sessions (with the support of another board member, Thank you Zachy Olorunojowon) and we saw a consistent number of professionals log on to chat, share their experiences and be present with other like-minded individuals. (And yes, it counted as FREE PDU's, too!)

But, for some, an hour a week for another virtual meeting may seem like too much of a sacrifice. . .I believe, as we look ahead to 2023 and beyond, our need for connection and association to one another is going to be evermore critical to our success.

There are amazing benefits to networking as a project manager, like:

  • Access to resources: Networking can help project managers access resources and expertise that may not be available within their own organization.
  • Professional development: Networking can provide opportunities for project managers to learn about new trends and best practices in project management. (PDU's)
  • Collaboration opportunities: Networking can lead to collaboration opportunities with other organizations or individuals, which can improve the chances of success for a project.
  • Career advancement: Networking can help project managers make connections and build relationships that can lead to job opportunities and career advancement.
  • Problem-solving: Networking allows project managers to tap into the experience and knowledge of their peers, which can help them solve problems more effectively.
  • Building Trust: Networking helps in building trust with your peers and colleagues and increases your chances of building a strong professional relationship with them.

What are your networking goals for 2023? Are you in need of building trust with others, developing professionally or finding new job opportunities? I would recommend networking with an open heart and mind to the future.

Amber (a.k.a. The Feisty PM)
