Hello ,

I'm Jean, author of the memoir Alzheimer's Daughter written about my journey caring for both parents diagnosed on the same day. My caregiving experience lasted about eleven years from first suspicions to my parents' passing.

Although I worked full time as a 3rd grade teacher, I was not entrenched in the care of my own children as they were college age during my parents' illness.

However, I realize so many caregivers live within the triple whammy of 1) actively caring for young children, 2) working full time and 3) caregiving for a loved one...the sandwich generation.

That's why we believe, at AlzAuthors, that books written to explain Alzheimer's to young children are so important. Let's face it, children see our worry, hear us talk in hushed tones, and sense our overwhelmed exhaustion.

Marcia Ashford has written a lovely book that can help explain Alzheimer's with a loving tone of acceptance. I highly recommend Trudy Matoody and Grandma Rae for your family.

Marcia tells us:

As a daughter of an Alzheimerโ€™s patient, I understand. As someone who has experienced the impact of Alzheimer's firsthand, I wanted to create a resource for children that would help them understand this disease and how it affects their loved ones.
