Hello ,

When Lance A. Slatton contacted me to guest on his podcast, All Home Care Matters, I thought it would be the usual interview. What happened next was not only a partnership in the mission to provide quality information and resources for caregivers, but a friendship and deep respect for one another. Lance continues to astound me with his passion for helping caregivers, his innovative ideas, and willingness explore where others have not yet gone. He recently attained 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. This is one podcast you need to subscribe to.

Lance writes:

I’ve seen firsthand the challenges that families face when caring for their loved ones. Our unwavering goal has been to help families gain knowledge and navigate these challenges, and we take our role in this very seriously. The connection we’ve been able to create with our listeners has been truly magical to experience. Sharing stories and hearing from our listeners is one of the most incredible aspects of what we do.

Cheryl Crofoot Knapp shares her personal experience

with Alzheimer's disease in

ο»ΏUndefeated Innocence.

Cheryl writes:

I barely understood Alzheimer’s the first time it staged assault on our family. It was an unwanted guest stealing my dad. My mom tried to handle everything on her own. She hid a psychiatric evaluation that revealed my dad failed the clock test, had a functional IQ of under 90, and needed immediate full-time care. Mom thought she could fix him. She couldn’t help my dad, her depression returned, and I made the difficult decision to place him immediately in a care facility.

...Two years later, the unwanted guest made a repeat performance with my mom in the lead role. She was still mobile and enjoyed being sociable, but she needed to move to a residential community that could provide care as the disease progressed. She loved to play cards (until she couldn’t remember how to play the games) and chat with her new girlfriends. A year later, my husband and I moved 800 miles from Minnesota to Arkansas to help her and become her legal guardians.

Caregiver Writing Workshop 6/27 with Laura Davis

SUPPORT FOR CAREGIVERS.

TELL YOUR STORIES.

In this supportive half-day pop-up class, you’ll learn to use words and story to explore the joys, complexities, and challenges of being a caregiver. It’s been well-established that writing and honest sharing are deeply healing practices that relieve anxiety, increase resilience, and promote self-compassion. Sharing caregiving stories with those facing similar challenges diminishes isolation and provides life-giving support. You don’t need to consider yourself a writer to attend. A notebook, a pen and your willingness to share is all that is required. This online class will be taught by 7-time author Laura Davis, an Alzheimer’s daughter who cared for her mother in the final years of her life. Exploring the Caregiver Journey Through Words and Stories will take place on Tuesday, June 27.
