Y. Y. Chan, author of "Grandma, It's Me!" a children's story about dementia

Dear Friend of AlzAuthors,
While all else may be lost, love persists. It lasts until the end and beyond; in our hearts forever.

Introducing our latest author: Y. Y. Chan
Y. Y. Chan shares that her story isnβt just about dementia, but about unconditional love. No matter what stage of life or challenges our loved ones are going through, we should simply love them through their journey, and love them until the end.
Her hope for her children's book:
I hope that through this book, children can understand more, not only about Alzheimerβs disease and dementia symptoms, but also more about their own emotions. I want to encourage more children to tell their loved ones they love them, and to simply be present and spend time together β even if they canβt remember.

On the Podcast:
Chris MacLellan is well-known in caregiving circles. You might know him as The Bow Tie Guy β because, he says, βWearing a bow tie is like wearing two smiles." Or you might know him from his caregiving blog, The Purple Jacket, where he chronicled his and his partner Richardβs journey with esophageal cancer. Or you might know him as the founder of The Whole Care Network, featuring a variety of podcasts, blogs and videos to provide caregivers with much needed resources. In fact, Chris is the reason this podcast exists!
Chris is the author of "What's The Deal with Caregiving?" a powerful and compelling book written from his own experience that informs caregivers about how to deal with the challenges they will encounter, regardless of sexual orientation, family situation, or age. In this episode we discuss the value storytelling podcasts bring to caregiving, walking into caregiving with eyes wide open, and the beauty of the caregiving family.

Our next book event with HFC is July 12th
Our Summer Book Series with HFC kicked off June 14th with Ruth Stevens, author of Stage Seven, a novel. The replay will be posted to our YouTube channel and on our podcast. This program is open to anyone interested in learning about these conditions. Each month one of our authors will meet with readers and caregivers online to discuss their books. Up next:
- Renee Harmon, MD, author of Surfing the Waves of Alzheimer's, July 12th at 7 pm EDT
- Christy Byrne Yates, author of Building a Legacy of Love: Thriving in the Sandwich Generation, August 16th at 4 pm EDT
Short on time and can't read the book? Come anyway. This is a wonderful way to learn more about dementia and caregiving. All participants must pre-register to reserve their seat. There is no cost.
