Open to meet Jennifer Fink, podcaster and blogger at Fading Memories, and find our latest podcast, events, and more!

Dear AlzAuthor,
Jennifer Fink started a podcast to support Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers four years ago. Based on her own personal experience caring for her mother, Jennifer imparts both wisdom and humor in her weekly episodes, where she interviews a variety of knowledgeable guests. And she's started a blog to support the podcast.
Jennifer says:
The goal for creating the podcast was simple: offer caregivers a simple way to access support and information while handling their many tasks. Being able to tune in to a topic when you need help or inspiration is one way to help a caregiver in the thick of a challenge.

On The Podcast
The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel is an Alzheimer's artist, author, and advocate. She is the author of "UnMasking Alzheimer's: The Memories Behind the Mask,” a collection of photos of the 36 masks she created as a participant in an arts program called "Art Reflects" for those living with memory loss and their care partners. Cynthia says she started with one mask and couldn't stop! Each one reveals a story that speaks to her experience of living with early onset Alzheimer’s. In this episode, we discuss how life doesn’t stop after an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, her new ministry as an advocate for those living with dementia, and her exhaustive schedule of activities, filled with the arts, education, and many surprising adventures. ICYMI
Carol Bradley Bursack, an author, columnist, consultant, and speaker who provided care to a neighbor and six elderly family members over the span of two decades. This experience led her to write Minding Our Elders: Caregivers Share Their Personal Stories, a portable support group for caregivers that is also used as a college text for gerontology and nursing home administration classes. In this episode we discuss caring for our loved ones with dementia by entering their world, managing medications, and the trials and tribulations of long term care. Start listening now.

Join Us for our Next Author Meet Up: December 1
It's not too late to sign up for our next Meet Up on Wednesday, December 1st at 4 pm EDT.
We'll kick off the hour with a brief talk about the importance of social media, then Jean Lee will give a tutorial on how to use the free design app "Canva" to create beautiful graphics to use across your social media, website, blog, newsletters, wherever you spread the word about your book and Alzheimer's and dementia awareness. You can get a head start by signing up for a free account at Canva.com.
We'll also talk a bit about our new Round Robin Book Review Circles and Marianne will give a short demo on how that works. Authors are already reading and reviewing each other's books! If you're looking for book reviews you don't want to miss this.
At the end we'll break into small groups for further discussion. And, this time we'll be using Zoom so hopefully we won't run into any techy glitches.
Our goal is to create a personal connection, to build our community of 300 authors into a force to not only raise awareness of the dementias and reduce the stigma associated with a diagnosis, but to get much needed resources into the hands of those who need them.

The Round Robin Reviews are coming in!
Are you taking advantage of our FREE Round Robin Book Review Circles? Book reviews - whether for your own book or ones you've written for others - can help position you as a leader in dementia care, and give you credibility as an author and expert. Reviews are also a great way to gain visibility for your book, attract readers; drive sales; build social media content; and more. Our review circles help you find books to review as well as other authors looking to review books. What a win-win! The reviews can then be used as a steady stream of content for your social media, blog, newsletter, etc. If you are not yet a member of this private Facebook Group please contact us at alzauthors@gmail.com. We will then invite you to join. The instructions for how to participate are posted on the group page. Happy reading and reviewing!

AlzAuthors on Amazon Live!
We were thrilled to be on Amazon Live yesterday with Motivational Listener D. Scott Smith and Aging Enthusiast Christine A. Smith. They offered us their support on #GivingTuesday to help raise awareness of AlzAuthors and our collection of books to Amazon shoppers, to encourage them to choose us as their designated charity for their SMILE program. SMILE enables Amazon customers to support their favorite non-profits at no personal expense. Over a dozen of our authors met online and spoke about their books. You can catch the replay here. And don’t forget to choose AlzAuthors as your SMILE charity!
