Hey ,
This week, I'm reminded how there’s a kind of rage that doesn’t come from cruelty; it comes from confusion.
A snake, moving along the ground, was accidentally cut by a saw left lying in its path.
Instantly it burned with fury, whipped around, and bit down hard on the saw’s teeth.
The teeth pierced its mouth. It began to bleed.
Certain it had been gravely provoked, the snake erupted. It wrapped itself around the saw, trying to strangle this enemy to death.
The harder it squeezed, the deeper the teeth sank in.
In the end, its body was severed clean through by the blade.
The saw never moved.
It had no opinions about the snake. It hadn’t reached for it. It hadn’t tracked it. It didn’t even know it was there.
The cut happened because two surfaces touched.
The saw didn’t kill the snake. The snake’s response did.
And the standard reading of this story is that the snake was stupid.
Should have crawled away. Should have let it go.
However, that reading misses the part worth paying attention to.
The snake wasn’t stupid.
It was responding to something no system is taught to metabolise: a wound with no enemy.
Because pain alone doesn’t always produce that kind of escalating fury, even sharp pain.
What breaks something open is the meaning gap.
No predator. No intention. No warning.
Nothing to be angry at in the ordinary sense. Just impact.
So the mind does what minds do when the truth is too thin to lean on: it creates an enemy so the body can mobilise.
Mobilisation feels like safety. It feels like strength. It feels like “at least I know what to do now.”
And this is where we can start mistaking survival for self-defense.
Clean self-defense is clear. It creates space. It ends.
But survival rage spirals. It tightens. It needs to keep biting, keep squeezing, keep proving; because it isn’t actually responding to what’s here.
It’s responding to a much older imprint that says: if I don’t stay activated, something will happen again.
This week’s Full Moon eclipse can stir exactly this terrain.
Eclipses don’t just illuminate. They interrupt. They reveal where we’ve been gripping a story because the story gives us identity, even if the story is costing us our peace.
They have a way of showing us where we’re locked around the “saw,” where we’ve been fighting something that isn’t conscious, isn’t personal, and can’t be negotiated with, because it was never an “enemy” in the first place.
So if you notice anger or frustration or pressure rising this week, be curious.
Ask yourself:
What is this protecting?
Where did my system learn that activation = safety?
What would it feel like to stop squeezing long enough to let truth arrive without battle?
And this is also why I’m choosing, more and more, to hold my work in community spaces that are educational, informational, and heart-led.
Spaces where people can explore wellbeing without pressure, and let their nervous systems orient to receive the support they are needing.
This Saturday, I’ll be part of something that feels like that.
The Gold Coast Women’s Health & Wellness Expo 2026 is a free entry community event focused on connection, education, and empowerment around women’s health (while welcoming all genders).
It’s designed as an inclusive day to meet practitioners, explore both holistic and mainstream modalities, and be part of a community that learns and uplifts together.
The event also includes a Wellness Hub, described as a space where you can try different modalities rather than just hear about them.
It’s hosted by founder Anjali Woodford (who is also a personal friend of mine, and I’m saying yes to being there because I trust the heart behind what she’s building).
So if you’ve been feeling tender, reactive, raw, or simply curious, come through to learn, ask questions, receive, and feel what resonates.
