Dear Afrocentric Queen,

Let me share the behind-the-scenes experience that inspired the idea of the

Tourism Women Luncheon

In 2017, I stumbled on a video on YouTube...

It was Oprah Winfrey's Legend Ball, which she hosted in May 2006.

It was a 3-day celebration of the black heroines who had inspired her and others while growing up. She celebrated 25 African-American veteran women from various industries namely art, entertainment, and civil rights, who paved the way for the next generation.

The event also featured "young'uns", younger women making impact in the arts and culture, who have also become legendary themselves.

Oprah called it the Legends' Weekend. You can watch the ball HERE.

I remember spending most of that day watching the ball and researching how Oprah organized such a beauty and memorable event.

Just like Oprah, my dream is to create an intimate and safe space for young women (seasoned and upcoming) to connect and bond with trailblazing veteran women who have and are still paving the way for us in the Tourism industry, especially in Nigeria and Africa.

In 2019, the Tourism Women Luncheon (TWL) was born, and in March 2020, we hosted the first successful luncheon *smiles*
