Tip of the Week
In our most popular YouTube video, Ranking of the Best Jr. A Leagues for Players Wanting to Play NCAA Hockey, we ranked the Jr. A leagues from top to bottom with regards to how effective they are at advancing players to NCAA Hockey. Although we've gotten lots of positive feedback from it, many of you asked us to provide a concise list in written form that can be used as a quick guide. Of course, since we're keeping it concise here, there are exceptions that apply. With that being said, this list will provide you with a general understanding and can be used as a good starting point to making sound decisions when choosing where to sign down the road.
So, without further ado, here it is:
- USHL (almost all players go NCAA DI)
- BCHL (many players go NCAA DI & USports)
- NAHL (many players go NCAA DI; almost all remaining players go high end NCAA D3)
- AJHL (several players go NCAA D1; almost all have the option to go high end NCAA D3)
- CCHL (several players go NCAA D1; almost all have the option to go mid-high end NCAA D3)
- OJHL (several players go NCAA D1; many have the option to go mid-high end NCAA D3)
- NCDC (several players go NCAA D1; many have the option to go mid-high end NCAA D3)
- SJHL (few players go NCAA D1; many have the option to go low-high end NCAA D3)
- MJHL (players rarely go NCAA D1; many have the option to go low-high end NCAA D3)
- EHL (several players go high end NCAA D3; many players go low-mid end NCAA D3)
- NOJHL (several players go low-mid end NCAA D3)
- USPHL Premier (several players go low end NCAA D3)
- SIJHL (a handful of players go low end NCAA D3)
- NA3HL (a handful of players go low end NCAA D3)
As a general rule of thumb, any league that isn't on this list isn't really worth considering if you want to have a good chance of at least playing NCAA D3.
Hope this helps!
