Q: What does a "complete" hockey player look like?
- Skating ability: strong skating skills, including speed, agility, and balance.
- Stickhandling: the ability to control the puck effectively with the stick.
- Shooting: the ability to shoot the puck accurately and effectively.
- Passing: the ability to make accurate and effective passes to teammates.
- Positioning: the ability to understand and execute proper positioning on the ice.
- Hockey IQ: a strong understanding of the game, including situational awareness and decision-making.
- Physicality: being strong and able to win battles for the puck and play physically.
- Mental toughness: being able to handle pressure and perform in clutch moments.
- Work ethic: a strong work ethic, including a willingness to put in extra effort and time to improve.
- Coachability: a willingness to listen and learn from coaches and integrate feedback into performance.
