Hello ,

Toby has tested negative for Covid! He is well and ready to travel.

Shelley is making plans for the future.

As we emerge from the shadows of grief and sickness, we embrace the joy of reclaiming our lives. It's a time of healing, growth, and reconnection as we take rejuvenating day trips and gradually assimilate back into the world.

New Mexico Day Trips is back this week with a new video of our trip to enchanting Pilar and Orilla Verde.

In this week’s videos, we'll be sharing stories of resilience and personal triumph along with practical tips for navigating this transitional phase towards healing and renewed vitality.

Together, let's celebrate the resilience of the human spirit and cherish the profound sense of gratitude that accompanies our journey of healing, growth, and infinite possibilities.

There is a Celebration of Life for Shelley’s husband, Kevin, planned for Saturday, July 8 at 2 pm. It will take place at the Riverside Church of Christ in Albuquerque and we will livestream it for those who cannot attend in person. We’ll provide more details soon.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and for your continued participation in our lives and community.

Mastering the Art of Compromise: Strengthening Relationships, Communication, and Personal Growth

by Shelley Carney

In a recent episode of "Our Story Your Story," titled "A Journey of Compromise and Choices | A Gypsy’s Kiss Chapter 8," Shelley Carney and Toby Younis discuss the profound topic of compromise and its role in shaping our lives.

Watch the video or download the podcast episode

Through personal anecdotes and reflections, they explore how compromise is essential for fostering better relationships, practicing effective communication, and achieving personal growth.

This blog post explores the valuable insights shared in the episode and offers practical takeaways that can be applied to various aspects of our lives.

Compromise as a Tool for Better Relationships

Compromise serves as a powerful tool for nurturing and strengthening relationships.

It involves finding a middle ground that respects the needs and desires of both parties involved.

Rather than viewing compromise as a loss or surrender, it should be seen as an opportunity to foster understanding, empathy, and collaboration.

By actively engaging in compromise, individuals can create an environment of mutual respect, where both perspectives are valued.

It enables open and effective communication, allowing conflicts to be resolved with grace and without damaging the relationship.

Compromise acts as a bridge, connecting individuals with diverse opinions and helping them build a foundation of trust and cooperation. Ultimately, it is through compromise that relationships flourish, grow, and stand the test of time.

Toby emphasizes that compromise is not a zero-sum game, but rather a tool for building healthy relationships based on mutual understanding and respect.

"A compromise that results in a solution equally beneficial to both parties is necessary for a healthy relationship." — Toby Younis
