Maximizing Your Day Trip and Content Creation Experience: The Art of Balancing Planning and Spontaneity
by Shelley Carney
We started with a plan to go to Las Cruces for the Gem and Mineral show to record videos for our New Mexico Day Trips YouTube channel.
Then we added on a trip to Alamogordo to see the New Mexico Museum of Space History.
If the weather is good, we can go to the Dripping Springs visitor’s center.
There are free museums and a farmer’s market on Saturdays.
There is so much to see and do! But we don’t have time to do it all.
Whether you’re planning a day trip or creating content, there are two approaches you can take: planning or being spontaneous. While both approaches have their benefits, they each have their differences that can significantly impact your experience.
Let’s explore the differences between planning and being spontaneous as it relates to going on day trips and creating content.
Flexibility
When you’re spontaneous, you can change your plans on the fly and adapt to the situation. This means you can take advantage of opportunities and have more freedom to explore.
After spending Saturday morning at the gem and mineral show, we took a short drive to Dripping Springs to scope out the visitor’s center. The weather was beautiful, and we sent up the drone to capture some shots of the Organ Mountains.
We also had time to scoop up a bucket of alluvial soil to take home to look for gold.
This will be a fun story to share on our Garage Prospecting YouTube channel.

Realize Your Retirement Dreams Now: Trade Clutter for Travel Adventures
Whether you're exploring new countries or simply spending time with loved ones, retirement is a time to live life to the fullest and make memories that will last a lifetime. Downsizing helps retirees simplify their lives by letting go of things that they no longer use or need. This can result in a sense of liberation, allowing retirees to focus on the things that truly matter to them.

Processing 4 Pounds Reserve Blend Gold Paydirt from PanMoreGold.com
Pan More Gold claims their new Reserve Blend Gold Paydirt is hand-gathered in their, and their partners', claims in and around the old gold mining districts in Colorado. Each bag is guaranteed to be unsearched, and each bag will contain gold. Every bag is different, but they do regularly run their own material and have it tested by assay and lab facilities. Their pay dirt on average yields 200% more gold than other bags they have tested, and many customers report finding between 1/10th to over a gram per pound or more!

Five Tips for Your First Gem Show
by Addison Rice for the International Gem Society
For your first gem show, follow these tips and remember your manners. You'll quickly become a gem show addict!
- Bring cash.
- Have a shopping list.
- Ask questions.
- Purchasing rocks by weight.
- Wholesale gem shows are for dealers.
Is there something in particular you're looking for, or a hole in your collection that you'd love to fill? Do some research on the gem and look at prices. Remember, the aesthetic of a rock isn't always the same as its quality. An ugly specimen of a rare mineral variety might cost much more than a transparent crystal of a common variety of the same mineral.
