Hello ,

We postponed our trip to Arizona by a week but it only got hotter.

It was a wonderful opportunity to see family, and we found the time to go to the movies for the first time in a long time, too.

Shelley enjoyed the support and love from her daughter, son-in-law, brother, and family. Toby was delighted to meet more wonderful young people and have conversations with family and friends.

Although it was hot, it was also fun, and we felt great joy as we celebrated being together. The weekend and the summer are ending all too soon.

The Power of Mentorship is an incredible force that can profoundly shape and transform lives. 

Mentors play a pivotal role in guiding, supporting, and inspiring individuals on their journeys of growth and development. 

Through their wisdom, experience, and encouragement, mentors provide valuable insights, constructive feedback, and a safe space for exploration and learning. 

A mentor's influence can extend far beyond specific skills or knowledge; they often instill confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose in their mentees. 

Whether in personal or professional spheres, the power of mentorship lies in its ability to empower individuals to realize their full potential, overcome challenges, and achieve remarkable heights they might not have reached alone. 

The impact of a mentor's guidance can ripple through generations, as those mentored often pay it forward by becoming mentors themselves, continuing a powerful legacy of support and inspiration.

In Chapter 12, we see the significant impact of mentorship on Toby's life. He reflects on Uncle Carlos and Uncle Mundy's roles as supportive figures. 

“Carlos and Mundy had the most influence on my years between my father dying and going off to college. They were the ones that filled in with all the interesting pieces of life that my father couldn't.” — Toby Younis

Toby recalls how Uncle Mundy taught him about photography and provided his first 35mm camera, igniting his passion for the craft. 

“Mundy was more technical. He helped me get my ham radio license. He taught me how to use transmitters and receivers, big military ones that he bought for me. He got me into photography. He gave me my first 35-millimeter camera and taught me how to use it.” — Toby Younis

Mentorship played a crucial role in shaping his interests and honing his skills.

How Much Gold? Wet and Dirty Alaskan Gold

Our friend, Tony, owner of Glacier Creek Mining Company in Alaska send us 9 pounds of paydirt from his own claim and challenged us to process it to see how much gold we could find. Wow!
