Starry Nights in New Mexico

From September 14th to September 16th, Shelley and I are embarking on a thrilling escapade to the Cosmic Campground in the mountains of West Central New Mexico. Our mission? To immerse ourselves in the wonders of the night sky and practice our astrophotography skills.

Now, you might be wondering what's so special about this Cosmic Campground. Well, it's a haven for stargazers, far away from the blinding city lights, where the cosmos opens up like a magical canvas. We'll be capturing the mesmerizing cosmic phenomena that paint the night sky with their splendor - from sparkling stars to distant galaxies. Our goal is to enrich our collection of celestial marvels and share these breathtaking moments with you when we return.

Championing Conservation in California

After our cosmic rendezvous, from September 22nd to September 25th, we'll be traveling to Oxnard, California. But this trip isn't solely about stargazing; it's also about lending a helping hand to our dear friend, Janet Bridgers, President of EarthAlert!. They're deeply involved in preserving the precious Oromond Beach Wetlands from overdevelopment.

These wetlands are vital ecosystems teeming with diverse wildlife, and they face a real threat from encroaching development. Our mission is to assist our friend in collecting interviews from the passionate individuals working tirelessly to protect these wetlands. We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change, and we're eager to share these stories with you once we return.

Our Temporary Absence from YouTube

Now, you might be wondering why we won't be as active on our YouTube channels during these two weeks. Well, capturing the beauty of the cosmos and supporting environmental conservation efforts require our full attention and dedication. We want to ensure that we provide you with the best content possible when we return.

We truly value your support and understanding during this time. While our regular upload schedule may experience a brief interruption, we promise to return with even more captivating content, stories, and experiences to share with all of you.

It's the sense of togetherness, the feeling of being welcomed with open arms, that makes us feel valued and appreciated. 

The bonds formed in a supportive community can be as strong as any familial connection, and the presence of strong, inclusive women within these communities often plays a pivotal role in fostering this sense of belonging. 

Through stories like those discussed in the podcast episode, we are reminded that no matter where we go, we have the capacity to find our tribe and experience the beauty of belonging and camaraderie.

At the heart of Chapter 22 lies the concept of belonging and the warmth of camaraderie within a community. 

A full belly, the quiet, the warmth, and the goodness of these people remind me of times with my family in Abiquiu and above the Red River at the family ranch.

There is much laughter and good-natured teasing. It’s like I got my wish and found my “Leave it to Beaver” life in this moment.

The strength and value of strong women characters who play a pivotal role in fostering a sense of inclusivity are important to the stories we tell.

There was that sense of camaraderie, and the only women in the place, aside from my grandmother coming to visit, were the housekeepers and the cooks. They held their own with these guys.— Toby Younis
