When Crystal learns her birth mother sought witches to conceive her, the fifteen-year-old’s faith is shaken. God isn’t the one answering her prayers. She is.
After her aunt is threatened, Crystal attempts to master her power, but flying and conjuring fireballs attract dangerous attention. A witch hunter kidnaps her boyfriend, and shamans and witches hunt Crystal, desperate to use her to end their centuries-old war.
If Crystal can’t figure out what she’s capable of, she won’t just fail to protect those she loves and end the war. She might start the apocalypse.
This is the first 3 chapters for free. I know the author personally and he is quite talented!
Five years ago, Montague 'Monty Hill' Glupie, a sixteen-year-old with a penchant for languages, found a book that promised to grant his every wish, once he translated it. Monty has two wishes: to get his father back, and to get rid of his autism.
Today he'd planned to translate the last sentence, but instead ended up in his high-school principal's office, after breaking a bully's arm. With punishment just around the corner, Monty escapes from the office and heads to his family's ranch house to finish his translation.
Finally ready for his wishes, Monty hesitates. What if it isn't real? He settles for an impossible wish - the princess of the book he translated. He calls her his Paper Girl and he wants her to fall in love with him. If she appears, wishes do get granted; if she likes him, then magic exists; and if she falls in love with him, miracles can happen.
Yet, no one comes. Disappointed and lost, Monty goes home and returns to school, to face another horrible day. It goes from bad to worse, until a new girl arrives. Aislinn.
Is this his Paper Girl? And what does she see in a boy who has but one friend? It's the start of an adventure that takes Monty to a kingdom in another world, where he once again lands himself in hot water. He may find his first real love, but will he be able to accept that his autism might be his 'superpower'?
