Back at it

Hello and good morning! Or is it evening when you're seeing this?

One of the challenges for me wanting to provide quality recommendations (and not waste your time) is that I want to test the things I learn about before I share them when possible. I haven't been making time to dive into new stuff recently. Put another way, sorry for the radio silence of late. To be perfectly candid, I've been emotionally exhausted and that's been spilling into my physical space. However, I'm back baby! Now let's get to it.

Here are some fun things you should check out.

  1. 1001 Album Generator - This site gives you one album a day to listen to. All of the recommendations have been vetted and come from the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Monday through Friday is the default but you can choose every day of the week if you're so inclined. There is also a Join a Group feature to sync your album pick with friends, family, or housemates. It's been a great way for me to hear some albums I wouldn't have quickly picked for myself to listen to.
  2. Stretch Club - I saw Stretch Club on Product Hunt. I've used it every day for the past 25 days. I'm doing the four minute wake up stretch. I've noticed progress. After all four minutes of stretching is better than no minutes of stretching. Looks like it's iOS only at the moment. You can check it out at www.stretchclub.io.
  3. “what to watch” - If you go to Google and search “what to watch”, you will get results of movies and shows that are trending right now. That's kind of fun for discovery. And if you're like me, behind the pop culture eight ball, quite helpful. Disclaimer: I use Google a little as possible because of all of the personal information they suck up on everyone. I prefer DuckDuckGo whenever possible. Unfortunately this trick doesn't work with DDG, probably because they don't track all your web activity.
  4. Film.ai - Staying with a movie theme for a moment, film.ai let's you search for images within movies. It's interesting but I haven't thought of a great use case for it yet.
  5. Siri translates! - Last night I asked Siri how to say a word in Arabic. (I don't know what made me think to do this.) To my shock and surprise, on HomePod, it said the word. On my phone, it pronounces it and shows how it is written. Give it a try. While it can't translate into Scottish yet, it can get you to 10 other languages.

Thanks for reading these little emails I send out. I read every reply you send me and appreciate the feedback. That's all I have for the moment.

Until next time,

Adam
