Writing a newsletter and starting a travel website are things I've been thinking about for quite a while. I've learned a lot about traveling over the years, but sometimes it's hard to think about what I could actually share that would be of real value to others. Recently, I've taken some time to sit down and compile a list of topics I have knowledge about that might interest readers—and so, over the coming weeks, I'll be sharing with you some tips I've learned. I'll cover topics such as:

• Packing smart
• Budget-friendly travel
• Travel tech and apps
• Flight and hotel tips
• Earning and using points/miles
• and more!

I hope that you'll find useful tips that make your travels more enjoyable, more enriching, and more affordable. Stay tuned for next week's email!

🤗 Make 2025 a year for connecting

As the new year begins, I am already exploring ideas for upcoming trips (such as a great deal I found for a direct flight from Seattle to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines). But in combination with adventuring around the world this year, I want to make an even greater effort to create and build connections with others. For me, that might be spending more time in a place so that I have more opportunities to be with friends and family, or working on ways to "break the ice" with strangers so that we can strike up a conversation in a cafe or airport lounge. What might connecting look like for you? Maybe it's reaching out to an old acquaintance who lives in a city you're planning to visit, or talking with someone from a totally different culture or background than you—helping you learn their story and why they think the way they do. Whatever form connecting takes, I hope that 2025 brings you new and deeper connections that give you opportunities to learn and grow, and share meaningful moments with others.

At the time of writing this newsletter, there are currently 14,634 planes in the air! It's hard to believe our skies are filled with that many planes at once. Just imagine all the passengers stuck in middle seats 🙈.
