Be ready always for opportunities. It is a golden attribute.
This evening, I had to be part of two services - normal and ordination which made me arrive home at around 3 pm.
As I was still on my way, I was speaking with a friend whom I suggested should take certain steps towards a career decision.
Interestingly, he was chosen for that process without the announcement of any public vacancy.
This week, he will be going for that interview. I may just share this with you later.
As we were talking, a senior person in the academic (an Associate Professor) called in and I had to end that to respond to her.
Hello, the paper we submitted to ... has been accepted and they need us to make a presentation, upload it on YouTube and send them the link.
I just responded with "I am yet to get home, maybe, I will just look for the paper and do that".
See me thinking right now as I completed the task and sent the link to her.
She responded with "Thanks for the prompt response".
The PowerPoint was done in about 30 minutes and the presentation was about 14 minutes.
Imagine if I did not have the competence to make a good PowerPoint presentation or do a video recording over slides.
Imagine if I did not have the tools like OBS (Check it on Google) for screencasting and recording.
Eventually, I would have given excuses and have been considered unserious.
This is not about me but you, , that you should build competencies before opportunities come.
Learn crafts and skills in the areas of your career that can help you grow your value in the marketplace.
The world is eagerly looking for those who have the skills and can do them promptly. They can recommend you to others with their bet that you will perform.
That's if you have proven over time that you have what it takes.
I am eagerly rooting for your greatness and look forward to your progress.
I don't know when or where but someday maybe holding a skillset for the new economy masterclass.
Would you be willing to participate or it is not necessary? LOL.
We will be wise.
