If you want to live longer, stop these!

A respected thought leader once said, "the outcome of your life is tied to your daily routine".
I rephrase that in another light to tell you, "the length of your years in life is tied to your daily routine".
You may be asking "Abiodun, have you become a health expert too?". Of course, No.
This is exactly why I may not be sounding nice as you expect.
I want to have you live longer as you can and stay as happy as you can when you wake up every morning.
Caveat: This may be one of the longest newsletters you've read from me but it will save your life in no small way.
Do you know many people die young not because medical issues but how they treated their bodies every time they woke up?
I will tell you 7 things you must stop doing if you desire to see your body become healthier and your day more joyful.
Taking steaming hot coffee/tea first thing in the morning.
Wow! Someone is about to disagree.
You have always thought taking those things makes you stay awake and active.
You don't need them because your body already produces cortisol (the hormones that keep you alert) when you are awake.
Taking what enforces it affects your body.
Hold on till a later time (some hours after) before you do.
I never knew this before myself.
Get it?
Using alarms to stay awake
Don't crucify me.
I know you may have been used to this and realise sometimes, how this creates anxiety most of the time.
It creates some form of tiredness and makes you feel like sleeping especially when you hit the snooze button.
Sometimes, your head even bangs.
Use this to change your sleeping pattern for only a short time and not all the time.
After a while (3 weeks) put it off and let your body do the work.
I guess you didn't believe that.

Checking social media very early in the morning
If you are Gen-Z, that's not how to be smart.
It dulls your mind and creates an unnecessary obsession in your soul.
You start your day angry when you load your mind with the achievements of other people.
Remember, anytime you do this, it wearies you and gets you thinking in pity for your own life.
It stresses your body out.
If you are in a nation like Nigeria, each day comes with News that weakens your ambitious soul.
Instead of checking social media, meditate, journal your vision, pray, read or listen to something that keeps you charged.
One of such is a podcast like Growth Secrets.
Wait until after shower or breakfast before picking up your phone.
The next?
Not taking breakfast that contains protein.
Can I confess to you? I am sometimes guilty of this.
I usually have to dash out of the house at 7:40 am to arrive at work before 8 am.
As a part of my routine, I have to create time for prayers, read the scriptures, and glean some wisdom before taking my bath.
One or two of those tasks could take more time than expected.
So, I take my breakfast along to work instead and sometimes, eat before noon.
This may not be the best but if you can, eat your breakfast (with protein food) before or latest at 9 am.
It helps your brain work effectively and your body charged for the task ahead.
I feel like charging some dollars for these health wisdom (laugh). That's how valuable they are.
Checking your email first thing in the morning
Fellow workaholic, stop this.
Be with yourself when you are home and develop your priorities.
Boosting your mental health and thoughts in the morning is golden.
Looking at your email first thing in the morning can disrupt your entire thought.
When you get to work, you can check your email and start working.
If you work from home, have a close time and help yourself stay alive.
Watching TV or listening to the radio first thing in the morning
A man offered me a ride one morning and started spreading some negativity from the news.
I did not allow him to finish before plugging in my earpiece and increasing the volume of the audio from my phone to the loudest.
I can be that discrete with my mind.
I began wondering how someone would choose to spread such negativity in the morning.
That's what most of the news from your TV and radio do to you when you tune in to them.
Meditate and stay calm before you set out.
I need some accolades, right?
Not taking clean and warm water early in the morning
If you have done your research on water, you must have found out how essential it is to your internal and external body system.
Your internal organs appear tired when you don't drink water in the morning.
This can cause some problems to your liver and kidney in the long run.
Drink clean water very early in the morning and take some breathing exercises to make your heart release harmful air.
Remember, some people are the most affected if you exit this earth before its time.
Live healthily and correct your morning routine.
