Hello everyone,
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to provide some updates and explain why I didn’t send an email two weeks ago or give further updates on our giveaway.
On Father’s Day, I received the news of my father's passing.
Our relationship was complicated, to say the least. He divorced my mom when I was 2 years old and never remarried, so he was quite lonely in his final years.
Even though I did everything I could to have a relationship with him, he was a complicated person, and it wasn't meant to be.
With his death, I'm left with conflicting emotions that I'm still processing, and it will take me some time to get back into the rhythm of things.
I wrote a lot in the week following his death, and I wanted to share a small passage:
I picture this tumultuous time like a chopped sea. Every emotion, a different wave—some bigger, some smaller, some stronger, some softer. I stand on the sandy beach, and when ready, just let myself walk in, enough to feel the waves flowing through my body, but not too far to be dragged out into the open sea and drown. Kindness and compassion help me stand tall and face the sea head on. Because, although it feels odd, I’m proud of myself and the work I’ve done.
I have a wonderful support system that has been with me through these tough times, and I know I'll get through this.
Still, I wanted to be honest with you all in case my emails or blog posts don't come out at the usual schedule.
Now, some writing updates.
To those of you who participated in the giveaway, thank you. I'll be contacting you separately in the coming days to give you eBooks 2 through 4.
I finally finished the first draft of Book 5 in the Leah Ackerman series.
This draft was very hard to write and it took seven months to finish. However, I'm quite happy and satisfied with the results. I can't wait for you all to read it.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support during this tumultuous time.
Love you all,
A. B. Cohen
