📖 A new book preorder, an epic worldbuilding promo, and mixed movie feelings

Bread, magic, free reads, and an honest Wicked take.

Hello peeps!

This week I’ve got a movie review, a book promo, and some very exciting news about JP’s new book. On my end, I’m knee-deep in finishing the sixth and final book of the Leah Ackerman series. I’m so close I can practically smell the ending. Just one last push!

📖 JP’s New Book Is Live for Preorder!

JP’s new novel, The Alchemist Baker of Rosen, is officially available for preorder, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.

A grandmother’s old recipes.

A city on the hunt for magic.

And bread that makes things better.

Erik never expected his grandmother's old baking secrets to change anything beyond keeping his neighbors fed. Working quietly in Master Garrick's shop, he uses hints of magic to stretch meager supplies, ever since the city's tension with refugees worsened. It's nothing grand, just a few prayers and simple etchings, but it's enough to ease hunger in Rosen's struggling harbor district.

When a licensed mage appears at the bakery door, Erik fears his careful balance is crumbling. But as word spreads about this miracle bread, he discovers something unexpected: a community beginning to form around his kitchen table. From Master Garrick's gruff protectiveness to young Theo's eager friendship, Erik finds himself building the very thing he thought he'd lost—a place to belong.

The old ways his grandmother taught him are stirring something deeper than simple heating sigils, and Erik must decide how much of himself he's willing to share. Because sometimes the most powerful magic isn't about changing the world—it's about feeding the people who matter, one loaf at a time.

🌍 New Promo - Worldbuilding!

The final promo of the year is here, and it’s a big one. Over 95 authors are sharing their Sci-Fi and Fantasy books, all centered around worldbuilding. If you’re looking for your next immersive read, this promo is definitely for you.

As always, here’s how it works: two links based on your birthday.

🎭 Wicked Forever?

I have very mixed feelings about this one. While it’s still enjoyable, it didn’t quite live up to its predecessor, though those are some very big shoes to fill. The sets and costumes were stunning, and I appreciated some of the unique choices compared to the Broadway show.

That said, I think part of the issue is the gap between Part 1 and Part 2. On stage, everything flows together in one experience. Watching the sequel a year later made the pacing feel off. I also struggled with the magic system. This is a personal preference, but I like magic to follow some kind of internal logic. Here, it felt a bit too convenient at times.

Overall, it’s not bad, just disappointing given how strong the first movie was. I’d give it a 5 out of 10.

That’s all for this week. Let me know if you’re picking up JP’s book, diving into the promo, or if you saw Wicked and felt differently than I did.

Stay weird and keep those pages turning,
