🎤 A Jonas Brothers Story
My wife and I went to a Jonas Brothers concert for New Year’s (no judgment, we are big fans). We had VIP tickets that included a soundcheck with the band.
My wife suggested we take Dark Pawn, sign it, and try to give it to them. So during soundcheck, Joe Jonas noticed our signed copy and… he grabbed my book. Yes, that actually happened. He, Kevin, and Nick were all super good vibes, and they even handed me the mic so I could pitch the book to everyone. It was surreal and an honor to share my art with one of my favorite artists.

📺 Stranger Things Season 5 Review (WARNING: spoilers ahead)
I waited a bit after finishing the finale to let my emotions settle and give a more rational review. The internet has gone ballistic with criticism, and while I do think this was a weaker season compared to the others, it still had some really strong moments (episode 4’s ending was phenomenal).
My biggest complaint is plot armor. I am notorious for having no mercy on my characters, but when a finale ends with all the main characters surviving, it feels a bit underwhelming. Especially when we saw Vecna effortlessly taking out soldiers left and right in episode 4, yet he cannot kill a single main character he fights.
There were also inconsistencies with Will being connected to the Mindflayer and feeling pain when Vecna felt pain, but seemingly fine during the final battle. Plus, where were the Demogorgons?
All of that combined made the ending underperform. That said, I wasn’t upset with it. In a strange way, a somewhat happy ending after everything these kids have gone through felt satisfying, even if it leaned toward divine justice with a sprinkle of lazy writing.
Overall, I still think Stranger Things will go down as one of the best shows of our generation.
