YoChurch Daily ~~~~Volume 1
Monday, April 5, 2021
Wow! Welcome to the very first daily update and the first week of the YoChurch newsletter (and media empire, right?) Thank you for signing up!
Each day will feature a news snippet and a themed topic plus regular daily suggestions and should take no more than five minutes to read. Please give me your feedback at [email protected]!
First things first:
- Have you said hello to God today? If not, why not go for it now? ☺️
- What is something you’re grateful for?
- Will you try to help someone today (even if it’s just a call to check in)?
- Would you please remember our YoChurch community in your prayers?
Verse of the Week:
“Therefore, once you have your minds ready for action and you are thinking clearly, place your hope completely on the grace that will be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed.” — 1 Peter 1:13
News:
The news that inspired me to finally get moving on this project: an Op Ed celebrating the increase of Godlessness. As our Nation crumbles morally, financially, emotionally, and otherwise, the Los Angeles Times published this celebration of Americans losing touch with the Almighty. I like keeping updates lighthearted but this is the sad reality and the media is celebrating it. I won’t post the link to give them more clicks. Here’s the headline image:
The very next day, on Easter Sunday, the holiest day of the year for Christiandom, and on Passover weekend for Jews, they posted this item attempting to deride the very existence of the human soul:
But in searches, this is the headline for that article that you find:
I can’t understand why they posted these items in general, with such poor arguments, by two different authors, on Easter and Passover weekend. If Jesus didn’t believe in an immortal soul, why did he say this as his last words on the cross?
“Father, Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit (Luke 23:46)”
Regardless, it was enough to motivate this newsletter then reinforce the need for a pivot away from reading as much news for me- especially Op Eds.
How much have things changed, and how quickly? Here's a great example:
Christians... it's probably time for us to start being more visible and vocal about our our faith... while we can. Hopefully my little effort here helps all of, especially me.
It's Monday~ Are You Motivated?
While most of us could use more walks and fewer cookies, good health goes beyond that! You can do something easy to improve your health today that has nothing to do with a little extra Reese’s eggs weight: brushing and flossing your teeth can help you avoid not just cavities (and strangers offering you mints) but even heart problems and dementia!
