A few weeks ago lang to. An email lands: an "AI Director" role at an AI film studio opened up. Create and edit a short film entirely with AI, inside their own platform. You just need to pass their exam. If it's good, you're hired.

One problem. I had never directed an AI film in their software (am mainly using Higgsfield).

Video editor, yes. Heavy AI user, yes. But "director of an AI film," inside a tool I'd never opened, on a countdown timer? Not yet. hehe

So I didn't try to wing it alone.

I spun up an AI session and basically made it my co-director during the trial phase. Dumped everything into it — the brief, the script, the platform's manual, my worries — and we worked it out together.

It helped me pick the camera angles and which shots to actually keep. It helped me budget how many credits to spend on each image and each video generation — the platform charges per generation, and I had a fixed amount to work with. Go over, and you're paying out of pocket.

Left to myself, I would've spent big on the wrong shots and run out before the ending.

I delivered the short. And, a few days later — hired.

Now in my career, I've directed actual films for real. Pero eto, tbh still feels a little unreal, hehe.

Here's the part that's already obvious to you,

AI ISN'T JUST FOR DOING THE WORK. IT'S ALSO FOR GETTING THE WORK.

Shockingly, even if we know it already, most of us still use AI as the thing that helps after we've already landed the client or the job.

But it's just as good for getting gigs.

Not everyone I know are using AI to find leads, and close their prospects.

Think about what that actually looks like:

A session that watches OnlineJobs (or wherever you look) and checks every new posting against what you actually want — rate, skills, timezone — the stuff you'd normally scroll past 20 listings to find.

When something fits, it drafts the application for you, in your voice, using your real portfolio — so you're applying within the hour instead of "mamaya na lang."

And it keeps a running list of every conversation: who replied, who went quiet, who to follow up Tuesday. Your own little CRM, without the monthly fee.

A reader named Klaude told me last week that client acquisition is the exact task he'd hand off first. Makes sense. It's the part nobody enjoys and everbody puts off.

We'll go deeper on this in the coming emails. For now I just want the idea sitting in your head: the hunt is automatable too.
