[shoden] Where Freelancing Matters Most❤️

Hey Work Fun Home Fam,
Yesterday I was talking about the benefits and perks of having an HMO bilang isang freelancer, tapos little did I know I would be in the middle of this same story pala.
Bigla pala namin need magpa-ospital.
My son Julian had been running a fever nung Sunday night, and hindi nawala for two days na.
He had pneumonia when he was much younger, so it’s possible na baka magkaron sya uli due to his weakened lungs (as per his Pedia right now)
Ang buhay nga naman, parang roller coaster minsan with its highs and lows.
Pero if you think about it, being a freelancer is like having a special ticket that lets you hop off that roller coaster for a while when you really need to.
It’s a superpower that comes in handy when your family needs you the most.
Picture this: your son, usually a bundle of boundless energy, wakes up one morning feeling under the weather. His rosy cheeks are pale and his sunny smile is replaced with a frown.
His laughter, (which to be honest as a parent minsan maingay masyado hehe) usually echoing through the house, has turned into coughs and sniffles.
Mas gugustuhin mo yung maingay na laugh kesa sa matamlay na galaw ng kids mo.
Yet, as a freelancer, you’re not stuck behind a desk sa office mo, hours away. You’re right there, ready to step into superhero mode.
You quickly rearrange your day, pushing aside the usual work tasks to focus solely on your little one.
There’s no need to ask for permission or worry about missing a meeting.
(Well if you lead a team, you have to tell them na wala muna kayo meeting hehe. Syempre you inform people pa din.)
Pero, you know what I mean. You’re the boss of your own time.
So yun na nga we walk into the hospital, and for most of my life I was kind of afraid of hospitals kasi grabe nga mga stories here sa bills and costs pagpasok mo pa lang, much more pag may other procedures pa.
I don’t know about you, pero I felt that the hallways stretch out like never-ending tunnels and the sterile white walls seem to close in on you.
Averse talaga ako ma-ospital, just like most pinoys. hehe
But then I realize I’m not alone pala, and it’s not about me pala.
It’s about my son.
I hold his small hand in mine, whispering words of comfort and encouragement.
“It’s okay Julian, I’m here lang.”
At that moment, it’s not about client calls or project deadlines.
It’s about being there for your son when he needs you the most.
Mind you, syempre nakaka-takot pa din ha.
Outside of what’s covered sa HMO, (which we thankfully have) may mga costs din sa fuel, parking, eating out, meds, etc… and those things easily add up.
Pero this is also the moment when you realize the real value of freelancing.
It’s not just about the freedom to choose your work or set your own schedule.
It’s about being able to be there for the ones you love when they need you most.
It’s an opportunity to put family first, to provide love and care unconditionally.
That’s what truly makes freelancing powerful - the ability to prioritize what matters most in life:
love, care, and family.
Lalo pa if you were able to do your work anywhere.
Anyway, that’s all I have for today muna.
Konti lang sumagot sa email ko yesterday if they were interested sa HMO, so I guess it’s not yet time for this list muna.
Keep crushing the rest of your week.
