[š”wfunhome] Two Blazing Hot na Cold Email Tips!
Oct 06, 2023 12:31 am
Yo Work Fun Nation,
Around 8 PM last week, I was listening to Part 1 of the crazy awesome LinkedIn + Cold Email Outreach webinar over at the SaaS Marketing PH Facebook Page.
Now, Iām no slouch when it comes to getting people to open and reply to my emails, in fact, I got the Author of the New York Times Bestseller Book called Profit First to not just open, not just reply, but actually hop on a call with me from my one cold email.
This guy is sooo busy and he gets sooo many emails from complete strangers every single day.
Pero he chose to write back to lilā ol me.
Di pa nakuntento, he even sent me a video of himself too.
Heck, even the most important person in the world has opened my email and is reading it now.
^_^ Diba, ? Ayieee
I know, I know.
E CoaSH, di naman yan COLD EMAIL eh! Niloloko mo na naman kame! Niyayabangan mo lang kami ee. Oo na, marunong ka na mag-email, who cares?
Just flexing lang na I know how to get people to open emails, both hot and cold. Nuks.
And thatās because through blood, sweat, and tears (mostly typing and researching and having coffee lang tbh, but anti-climactic kasi yun), I now enjoy your trust and hopefully earned your attention by providing value.
And I get emails from you guys that go like this:
Awww, hehe. Salamat sa tiwala guys.
Iām even more encouraged to do my best for you, . You have no idea how much this means to me.
No I donāt have superpowers, (wish ko lang hehe.) I only have your replies and daily engagement with this newsletter to thank. Otherwise, this email list would be a ghost town.
So I donāt take this trust lightly.
Some of you tell me when links to my paid stuff arenāt working. (Grabe, who does that?)
Tapos meron din ibang subscribers who simply donāt want me to get any sleep and just have me writing emails all day long. I have a theory.
Either sila talaga yung biggest supporters and they want to support ALL of the things, or they simply want to watch the world burn.
Or both. hahaha
Seriously thank you, guys.
As you can see, there is simply no way Iām just going to waste these brownie points and attention capital if I just send you other peopleās stuff na hindi naman legit from my point of view.
And like Iāve already established, Iām actually pretty decent at cold outreach myself, and mataas ang standards ko.
BUT.. when I attended their FREE Training last week, I learned two awesome things that I didnāt know before.
Lahat kasi ng cold emails ko pure gut instinct and walang scripts, just a framework. That, and I totally suck at LinkedIn outreach.
I learned that even my cold emails can be improved pa pala.
Now hindi mo na makikita yung replay ng Webinar 1 because they took it down agad after a day. Pero Iāll share my two biggest takeaways here.
Max out your cold emails at 50 words ONLY.
The goal is that EVEN if your prospect doesnāt prefer reading your email, all of that text is in one single screenshot area sa phone nila, and itās done na. 50 words is the sweet spot. This allows you to be more precise in your language and cut through the BS.
So parang awa mo na, wag mo na isulat yung āI hope the day finds you well.ā Of course dapat well sila otherwise they wonāt be opening emails from strangers.
Haha Sorry na if this is you right now. ^_^
Also, keeping it at 50
- Keeps the email concise and to the point
- Itās an awesome creative exercise to constrain word count
- Increases the chances of the recipient reading the entire email in one glance
- Prevents the email from appearing overwhelming or time-consuming to read
- Shows respect for the recipientās time
- Allows for better clarity and focus in the message
- Encourages brevity and effective communication
- Discourages the bullshit tone that ChatGPT is known to generate cold emails in
Deep down alam ko naman yan, but my personality is outrageous lang talaga. I write long-ass emails that are full of stories, jokes, and sidequests.
This makes me unreliable as a mentor because my most hilarious cold email clocked in at 250+ words, and made me around $5,300 in gifts pa lang by the prospect mismo.
Tapos heās become a mentor and a friend pa.
Kaso I broke all the rules of cold emails with that, and hindi sya great for keeping things streamlined and getting to talk to prospects more efficiently. I have very high open rates yes, but mabagal yung pace ko.
TWO WORDS LANG NA SUBJECT LINE, IN LOWER CASE. (CAPSLOCK PARA INTENSE)
Let's talk about super short subject lines - I'm talking just two words. I bet you didnāt know that. But hear me out, it's actually genius!
I've been experimenting with this din since I learned them and I gotta say, it works really well with cold emails. Like magic lang. Here's why, in two-word explanations na pinaghirapan kong isipin hehe:
easy peasy - Short and sweet gets your point across, no complications. People get it fast.
curious ka - Using just two words leaves people wanting more. Natrigger yung marites DNA in all of us.
personal agad - Less is more when it comes to personalization. Carefully chosen words can resonate big time.
phone friendly - Little subject lines are perfect for mobiles. No cut-offs, so prospects see your whole message in one go.
stand out - In crowded inboxes, short lines grab attention really quickly. Parang haiku ba.
Bakit lowercase you ask? Itās subtle but it lends a sense of informality na parang officemate or friend mo na sila.
For example you see this cold email sa inbox mo: bora, g?
Diba, napaka-easy decision to open? Things like that are never taught on even the top blogs on the topic, pero sa kanila FREE stuff pa lang yan. And thatās just the tip of the iceberg. Best practices lang nila yan, wala pa yung truly juicy stuff.
And syempre di ako papahuli. May ambag din ako for chudayās email.
Because you are still reading up to this point, Iāll share with you some of the best-performing 2-word subject lines Iām using:
- missed conversions? - easy winner, you just say na baka theyāre leaving something on the table
- unseen buyers - a known curiosity trigger
- office prank š- had to include Shoden brand subject lines, ano pa ba. But the angle here is to help them get leads to surprise their boss
- untapped revenue - kinda stuffy, but good for people who looked stuffy in their photos lol
- confidential ponds - you can allege that there maybe āpondsā of clients or assets na theyāre underserving
- bad jokes š¬- i prefer this, tapos mag start ako ng joke na related sa niche nila. challenging ito, but also really fulfilling if you pull it off.
- hidden customers - similar to untapped revenue
- eyes only - teases exclusivity sa i-share mo
- free pizza š- who doesnāt want free pizza
- between us - similar to eyes only, but between us lang. Haha
- off record - naka off yung record, ano ba.
- treat yoāself š§- this reference is from the famous sitcom Parks and Rec, itās become a cultural phrase na. I would say na if matulungan ko si prospect, they can afford to treat yoāself na.
- epic fails š¤£- self-explanatory
- cat videos šø- everyone loves a good cat video. (you actually send them a link to a real cat video here)
- neglected segment - stuffy uli para youāre hitting the rest of the demographic
- nap time š¤ - because nap time is really good
- got intel? - eto pa, good for getting exclusivity through the roof
- lol break š- a welcome break sa office routine nila
Ayan, this has become a hefty email yet again. So Iāll stop now and just remind you that their webinar is tonight na at 8PM.
Should you find yourself buying their upsell, welcome to the club. Hehe Let them know dinamay na naman kita.
Cheers!
