[šŸ’”WFUN] On Freelancing and Prospecting Consistently, {{contact.first_name}}

Yo Work Fun Home Nation

These past couple of weeks Iā€™ve fallen short on writing daily emails consistently to you, and I like to pride myself in being able to write an email a day pa naman.

But recently? Iā€™ve been missing days here and there.

Not really a good or ideal situation for me, as Iā€™m the type of person who can fall off a good habit quickly. (Pero pag bad habit, baliktad. Awts haha)

After missing another email yesterday, napa-isip na ako.

The truth is, I haven't felt very motivated to write lately.

Everytime I thought about writing, di ko nilagyan yung sarili ko ng same urgency to deliver on the same day. I would literally park my car in the middle of the SLEX just to finish my daily email.

Pero these days, minsan Iā€™m already in front of my laptop and Iā€™m just stare at a blank screen. I didnā€™t have anything to say pala.

Bakit kaya nawala bigla yung willpower ko lately? Why has my motivation been so low?

I considered the usual factors - is the topic not resonating? (I write for pinoy freelancers to help them work less, earn more and have more fun) oo naman, I actually have several topics lined up na thatā€™s right up our alley.

Am I trying too hard to impress you guys (turns out hindi naman hehe, I have zero desire to impress anyone at this point lol)

But no, that wasnā€™t quite right. Something else was niggling at my thoughts in the back of my head.

So I did something the old-fashioned way, I took out my old journal and dumped my thoughts on paper, it finally occurred to me.

In the last couple of weeks, I finished writing my eBook on How to Stop Self Sabotage for Pinoy Freelancers, and I think it was a huge pressure valve that got released.

A lot of the weeks and months spent writing daily were somehow unconsciously building to it.

Di ko nga na-realize ito if not for the journaling exercise.

Somehow a huge weight was lifted from meā€¦ And nag-relax ako masyado. Hehe

Sabi ko pa naman pahinga lang ako ng few dayss, then back to writing na uli.

Di ko namalayan, it also zapped my motivation to write or work much. Thank goodness for retainer clients.

The lesson here is this:

What happens in our lives (outside of freelancing) impacts our work. We don't work or create stuff in a vacuum.

Now this is neither good nor bad, it just is. Just stating a simple fact.

You're not a robot. You're a human being with real emotions...

Maybe youā€™re having conflict at home.. for example, may in-law ka that you donā€™t get along with, tapos andito pala sila sa house nyo for several weeks, and itā€™s dragging your productivity down.

Swerte ako that my in-laws are awesome but it could happen to any of us.

Or maybe a family member is sick, and you need to take care of them.

Or maybe a real loss occurs. That pain follows you.

Maybe din you have a really huge win, and you loosen up and wanted to relax, or nagbakasyon ka nang matagal pero youā€™re struggling to get back in the grind uli.

And it's going to affect your freelancing business din.

Ganon lang talaga.

So if youā€™re going through something right now, I want to say this:

Just be gentle with yourself.

Tao lang din tayo.

Itā€™s okay to do less din minsan. You're not the Energizer Bunny. Youā€™re allowed to make mistakes and mag walling din minsan hehe.

Just take it day by day.

Even more importantly, donā€™t beat yourself up if you see other freelancers getting their wins tapos you seem to be unmoving.

Itā€™s their time in the sun lang and you just need to slowly build your momentum back up.

Anlamig na a,

Shoden

ps. Tomorrow I'm going to start giving away $$$ lifetime subscriptions to software that can help you make more money as a freelancer, reply with "I'm in!" if you're in, lol.

Also ano favorite app na gusto mo ipa-raffle ko? Let me know!
