🔥 5 in-demand ai roles that didn't exist last year

Mar 31, 2025 1:01 am

Ey !

AI is changing the game—and that includes freelancing, .

I've been following one of the most AI-forward thinking copywriters out there, Stefan Georgi. He’s been a dominant force in copywriting and his health offers even before, but has since fully embraced creating AI-powered campaigns at scale.

He shared that by the end of 2025, the marketing department is going to look NOTHING like today's.

And most companies have zero idea what's coming their way.

If you've been wondering how to pivot or level up your freelancing career, there are some exciting roles in the AI space that don't require a PhD or Silicon Valley connections. In fact, many of them are surprisingly accessible, especially if you already have experience in writing, design, development, or strategy.

Alam mo na ibig sabihin nito, diba ?

It’s like the gold rush happening right now for freelancers smart enough to position themselves!

Let me break down and put some nuances to these 5 emerging AI freelance roles—what they do, how long it takes to learn them, where to find clients, and how much you can earn.

1. AI Prompt Engineer/Manager

What You Do:

You write and refine prompts to guide AI tools (like ChatGPT or Claude), helping them produce accurate and useful outputs. You're essentially the person who figures out how to "speak AI" in a way that gets consistently good results.

Training Path:

  • Learn basic Python and how large language models (LLMs) work
  • Take short courses on prompt design (some are just 1–2 hours long)
  • With consistent practice, 3 to 6 months is a reasonable learning curve

Client Sources:

  • Tech startups building AI-powered tools
  • Marketing agencies optimizing AI-generated content
  • E-learning platforms using AI for personalization

Earnings Projection:

💰 Hourly: $50 to $150/hour, depending on experience and project scope

💰 Project Bids: $1,500 - $5,000 for prompt libraries or optimization projects 💰 Monthly Retainer: $2,000 - $4,500 for ongoing prompt management and refinement

Future Outlook:

Pero here's the catch... This role might have a shorter shelf life of a few years because it’ll be required when anyone enters the workforce by then. As models get smarter and interfaces improve, everyone will need this skill eventually, just like everyone is now required to know how to use MS Office or Google Apps. So mag-upskill ka ngayon but don't make this your only play.

2. AI Trainer/Data Labeler

What You Do:

You annotate data (text, images, videos) to train machine learning models. Think of this person as your brand's AI coach.

They feed the AI system all your past campaigns, brand guidelines, product details – basically "teaching" it to understand your unique voice and approach.

Training Path:

  • No degree needed, but it helps to study basic data science concepts
  • Learn tools like Labelbox, Supervisely, or CVAT
  • You can be job-ready in 1 to 3 months

Client Sources:

  • AI research teams
  • Healthcare companies labeling diagnostics
  • Self-driving vehicle companies labeling sensor data
  • Companies looking to customize AI for their brand voice

Earnings Projection:

💰 Hourly: $20 to $40/hour for basic labeling, $50 to $100/hour for specialized brand training

💰 Project Bids: $800 - $3,000 for initial data labeling projects, $3,500 - $7,000 for comprehensive brand voice training

💰 Monthly Retainer: $1,500 - $3,500 for ongoing AI training and refinement

What makes this valuable:

This role sits at the intersection of brand knowledge and technical skills. Kailangan mo both: That you understand what makes a brand special AND how to translate that into something a machine can process.

3. AI Marketing Engineer/Chatbot Developer

What You Do:

You build the highways that connect all your different AI tools and marketing platforms. You build and train chatbots that help businesses automate customer interactions and create the systems that make AI actually work in real business settings.

Training Path:

  • Background in development helps, but not required
  • Learn Python, JavaScript, and frameworks like Dialogflow, Rasa, or Botpress
  • 4 to 6 months of focused study is realistic

Client Sources:

  • Retail, finance, and telecom companies
  • Healthcare clinics
  • Travel and hospitality businesses
  • Marketing departments needing automation

Earnings Projection:

💰 Hourly: $60 to $120/hour for development and integration work

💰 Project Bids: $5,000 - $30,000 for complete chatbot or integration systems 💰 Monthly Retainer: $3,000 - $8,000 for maintaining and improving AI marketing

Why I'm personally excited about this:

This is something I would invest a ton more energy and money in myself. While everyone else is fighting over who writes the best prompts or creates the prettiest images - the person who can make all these systems talk to each other will be worth their weight in gold.

4. AI Content Creator/Performance Analyst

What You Do:

You use AI tools to generate or assist in creating text, images, audio, or video content—blending creativity with tech. But you also analyze what works and what doesn't, digging into the data to optimize AI performance.

Training Path:

  • Ideal for those with backgrounds in content writing, marketing, or media
  • Learn tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, Descript, Jasper
  • Expect to spend 2 to 4 months learning workflows and tool mastery
  • Add data analysis skills to truly stand out

Client Sources:

  • Media publishers
  • E-commerce brands
  • Influencers and content-driven businesses

Earnings:

💰 Some freelancers earn $5K to $20K/month, depending on scale and clients

Key skills that set you apart:

The ability to answer questions like:

  • Are AI-written emails performing better than human-written ones?
  • Which AI models create the highest-converting product descriptions?
  • Is our AI-generated content actually driving business results?

5. AI Ethics Consultant/Compliance Manager

What You Do:

You guide organizations to build and deploy AI responsibly—avoiding bias, complying with regulations, and ensuring ethical practices. You keep track of the evolving laws around AI usage, data privacy, and disclosure requirements.

Training Path:

  • Best suited for those with backgrounds in ethics, philosophy, law, or tech policy
  • Learn AI basics and frameworks for ethical implementation
  • It usually takes 6 to 12 months to gain credibility in this space

Client Sources:

  • Government and regulatory bodies
  • Tech companies developing AI products
  • Financial institutions using AI for decision-making

Earnings:

💰 $79K to $189K annually, depending on your niche and client base

Why this matters now:

Not the sexiest role, pero potentially one of the most important as regulations catch up with technology (regulations extremely lag with the pace of new AI). With new rules popping up everywhere from California to the EU, someone needs to make sure AI marketing efforts don't land companies in hot water. Kumbaga you’ll be the person to save a lot of headaches and a lot of money for companies putting out offers out there.

This is just like what’s happened already. Nothing new, really.

The people who mastered Facebook ads before everyone else back when it was sooo cheap to run them? They made a killing with their offers.

Early email marketers who understood automation? Positively raked in the cash.

CRO specialists who first mastered how landing pages and conversions work? They're in demand in any niche and got to name their price.

It's the classic first-mover advantage. And it's happening again right before our eyes, .

Most marketing departments are trying to figure this out on the fly. They're assigning these responsibilities to whoever seems most interested or technically inclined.

You don’t even need to be a full blown expert, you just need to be a few steps ahead.

And the reality is, these are specialized skills that deserve dedicated focus.

The smartest marketers (and freelancers!) I know are positioning themselves for these roles NOW, before job descriptions even get formalized.

They're taking courses, running experiments, and building case studies of their results. And when companies finally realize they need these roles filled? These forward-thinking freelancers will be first in line with proven results in hand.

These roles aren't just for coders or AI researchers.

Many freelancers are already starting to specialize in these areas—building real careers around them.

The question is: which one resonates most with you, ?

Let's evolve with the work, not run from it. Reply and let me know which of these roles excites you the most! Is there one that feels like a natural fit with your current skills?

PS. Guys, I'm working on a quick learning guide to the top AI resources and GUIDED OUTLINES for each of these roles. Reply with "SEND ME THE GUIDE" if you want me to share it when it's ready! As usual I’m hoping to see some critical mass before I compile them, anything less than 50 replies tells me there’s not enough demand.

Thanks!
