[shoden] Sunday Morning Stories (Aug 13) 🤓🤓
Aug 13, 2023 4:42 am
Hey Guysh!
wow nakapagsulat din habang umaga pa, and on a sunday at that.
Now that today is my seventh day straight sending an email, and because of this rhythm, I'll take a page out of my mentor and client Justin Goff. (He's huge in the email marketing world)
He has this newsletter where every Sunday morning he likes to write about random things that are on his mind. Usually mga business lessons ni-share nya, but mostly random lang din.
He calls his "Sunday Morning Thoughts" but I'll call mine SMSS or "Sunday Morning Stories with Shoden"
So with that said...
This morning when I woke up, my six-year-old Julian asked me a question that had me stumped.
"Daddy, what is intuition?"
Shet.
I know right? Kids these days.
How in the world does a 6-year-old suddenly go up to you with that kind of question, and on a sleepy Sunday morning at that?
E nung 6 ako siguro nangungulangot lang ako nun kapag umaga.
I don't know, I totally have very few memories of my Sundays as a child (except Church, then lunch sa fave resto ng mama ko. That's it.)
Tapos eto our kids these days, they ask really advanced stuff na agad.
I'm kinda amazed though, that's why I'm writing about it.
Purely because it will be a nice story for my kid growing up. (He'll totally forget he asked this question, and maybe he'll see a copy of this email one day.)
So I tried to buy time as I racked my brains lol.
S: "Why do you ask?"
J: "Kase I was watching this video on Youtube and Nolik talked about it when Tom lost his watch, and I couldn't understand it.
(Nolik is a character from the Kids Show called Fixies, an educational channel talking about how things work)
I checked the video and OMG more than 2 hours long and all about how vacuums worked, how cleaning and dust worked, and other related topics, thank goodness for AI tools like ChatTube, and nahanap ko agad yung part that Julian talked about.
Nolik suggests that Tom should use his intuition to locate the watch, by telling Tom that he has a special ability to sense things, and he should trust his instincts.
S: "Ahh.. I see. (Kaso wala pa din talaga ako masabi hehe.) For me it's a gut feel. A hunch."
J: "Gut feel? Hunch? What's that?"
S: "It's when sometimes, our heart knows things that our mind can’t explain. That’s called “intuition”. It’s like a little voice inside you that guides you, even when things don’t seem to make sense."
AND THIS IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE SAID if I had enough time to research and then seem wise sa anak ko haha.
Pero waley. Yun lang nasabi ko. Tapos antok pa.
"I'll explain what it really means after we have breakfast." - is what I actually said, haha.
So now, alam mo na why I'm writing this email, kasi nag-rabbit hole na ako sa research hehe.
Pero, why should this even be story-worthy? What's in it for you?
Because I believe we should trust our intuition more.
Trust in one’s intuition can often be the guiding force that leads to extraordinary outcomes.
Intuition is like an internal compass, helping us navigate decisions and situations that may not always be clear-cut.
When we pay attention to this inner voice, we often find that it guides us toward paths that are authentically aligned with our values and desires.
Consider the story of J.K. Rowling, na kilala nating lahat.
It's a cliche and well-known story by now, but the initial idea of a young boy who didn’t know he was a wizard came to her on a train journey. Trusting her intuition, she transformed this idea into one of the most beloved book series in history, bringing joy to millions of readers worldwide.
These stories highlight how trusting one’s intuition can lead to remarkable achievements.
Intuition can illuminate possibilities that logic might overlook.
It’s that whisper inside us that knows what’s right, even when the external world may suggest otherwise.
So, whether it’s in business, freelancing, creative endeavors, or personal decisions, trusting your intuition can open doors to unexpected and extraordinary paths.
My intuition was to make friends and get to know a guy who had his first public speaking event in May 2016. He swore a lot on stage and honestly stuttered heavily back then.
However, along with the compelling content of his talk...
Something else was telling me to go be friends with this guy.
His name: John Pagulayan.
A couple of years later he would start the Freelance Movement Tribe and the vision to make freelancing spoken in the same breath as doctors, lawyers, and engineers was born.
Akalain mo yun, I got to be there from ground zero. I got to be part of something bigger than myself, helping others, while also living the life that I dreamed of for the longest time.
So really, there's a lot to be grateful for.
Including that awesome conversation with my son, we have those a lot because I'm usually at home din.
Ikaw, what's your awesome story where you were thankful you trusted your intuition? Share naman dyan!
Happy Sunday!
