I just got to find some downtime to check out the latest 2023 documentary from the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp abuse case, and gusto ko lang mag-share ng thoughts.

What does this have to do with freelancing?

Nothing whatsoever.

Or wala ba talaga?

Well, actually... two things. (It's a game I like to play to keep my mind sharp, mag-isa lang kasi ako lagi sa bahay. I suggest you do this din hehe)

1. Behind Closed Doors: Just like the trials unfolded behind closed doors, the world of Pinoy freelancing often operates in a hidden realm. I mean think about it, Freelancers like us work remotely, usually behind closed doors din (yes pasok!) communicating with clients through online platforms.

You can literally reinvent yourself every time you speak to a new prospect. You can change and improve from one client to the next, and this can all happen behind closed doors.

2. Trust and Betrayal: In the trials, trust was shattered as accusations of betrayal flew back and forth between Depp and Heard.

Similarly, trust plays a crucial role in our world of freelancing. Clients rely on freelancers to deliver quality work, while freelancers trust clients to pay them fairly. I know and you know maraming drama dito pa lang sa part na to.

Ikaw , anong chika ang pwede mong i-spill? Tayo tayo lang naman dito hehehe.

Grabe now I know na lahat pala ng tao sa mundo ay mga marites. Kala ko uso lang sa pinas yan, di pala.

Ibang klase din implications ng documentary na to, on the relationship sa #metoo movement, sa relationship ng power between the sexes, and what can happen if millions and millions of dollars are involved.

It had all the ingredients of a perfect storm - allegations of domestic abuse, defamation, and enough drama to keep the tabloids buzzing for years. No scriptwriter could have written it this well.

Ako nga din namangha the first time I heard about this, and 2 years ago pa yun.

This legal battle was a rollercoaster ride of emotions that had everyone glued to their screens.

Now, let’s be clear, kahit magulo sya, one thing we can’t ignore is the importance of addressing and condemning domestic violence.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a Hollywood A-lister or taong grasa sa kanto.. abuse should never be brushed under the rug.

This trial has been a wake-up call for society. It’s a reminder that we need to support and believe survivors, no matter who they are.

After watching this may closure na ako, na at least we got some popcorn-worthy entertainment out of it, right?

And finally, nakuha na din natin yung full transcript when they were saying goodbye sa courtroom for one last time!

It reads:

Heard: Johnny... Hey! Can you turn around and look at me?

Depp: (bows his head)

Heard: Let's talk Johnny... Talk to me.

Depp: (Turns to his lawyer, and his lawyer shakes her head)

Heard: I have something to talk to you about.

Depp (with his head still down): I have nothing to talk to you about.

Heard: Please, look at me!

Depp: Goodbye Amber.

Heard: Tell me something Johnny, do you still love me?

Depp: (Keeps quiet)

Herd: Do you still love me, Johnny?

Depp (lifts his head, looks her straight in the eyes, and says):
