Dear —
How are you getting on with Merciful Munching, the free book you received when you joined my Non-fiction Readers List? If you have found blessing in it, I would love to have your review here on Amazon or wherever you buy books.
If you are one of the readers who has gone on to read my Gourmet Gospel series, you will know I am deeply inspired by the Bible, Shakespeare, and mythology. These days, I'm focused on the age-old contention between prophets and kings, exemplified in Moses' campaign to free an enslaved people by unleashing plague against Pharaoh.
Similarly, in this narration from my Verses Versus Empire series, I regard Covid as our Champion Pathogen, as it humbles unrepentant leaders and wages its abolitionist campaign.
Pharaoh died in the Red Sea, drowned by his own hubris. Later, the prophet Elijah told an ailing King Ahaziah at the king's bedside: "You shall not leave the bed you lie on, but shall surely die" (2 Kings 1:4). Draw what inferences you will!
Until the next time "I unclasp a secret book" (to quote Shakespeare, as I often do),
Abdiel
