Happy 2025, everyone!
It's hard to believe we're living in the future! It's not quite what I thought it would be, TBH. Here it is, 2025, and still no flying cars. Well, there are flying cars but... on the other hand, at least here in San Francisco out streets are packed with self-driving cars of all shapes and sizes. Have you ever been in a self-driving car? I have and it's surprisingly pleasant. A little embarrassing when the car gets stuck, or does something stupid and you're like, "Hi, yes, it's not my fault!"
Looking Forward
So what's happening in 2025? Anybody have big plans? I'm working on something really fun right now, that I'll tell you all about soon, and also have the first draft of next installment of The Zodiac Files nearing completion.
It's called The Whispering Lights and is available for pre-order now.
Mysterious lights whisper to night hikers deep within Crystal Maiden National Forest, but those who listen to them never come back.
As Zoey, Jacob, and everyone around them tries to settle into their new normal, an unusually cold October invades the resort town of Starvale. But something more than a wintery chill threatens the visitors that the town depends on for its lifeblood. Something lurks inside Crystal Maiden National Forest and comes out as soon as the sun goes down. Tourists keep disappearing.
Then Starvale’s own begin to vanish into the woods as well.
Resolution or no resolution?
Do you make New Year's Resolutions? The practice seems to be going a little out of style. This year I've heard a lot about Goals instead of Resolutions. That might seem like the same thing with a different word, but as a writer, I believe word choice is important. I think of resolutions as decisions- I will eat healthier. Goals, on the other hand, are more specific- I will eat at least 5 green vegetable servings every week.
One thing I've chosen to do this January to help me envision my year to come is to reflect on things that have brought me joy, or made me proud last year. Then I can use those as a guide for a fulfilling 2025. I am proud of the books I wrote last year. To achieve that, I set a daily wordcount writing goal.
What did you do that brought you joy last year? What are you proud of?
Snags
Some health issues are snarling my plans for this year, but hopefully I'll come out of it stronger and even more productive. There are SO MANY THINGS I'm planning on writing in the near future. Meanwhile, I hope to use my time to continue to craft exciting stories, to be a positive force in the world, and to support my family.
Stay tuned.
