Not everyone deserves a second chance

Hi

Last week something unusual happened. Within the space of a few days, 5 people whom I had meetings with didn't show up. Most of them messaged me to explain what had happened and ask if we could reschedule.

I said yes to everyone who did. Unforeseen things happen and I'm perfectly aware of that - I had to reschedule a few meetings myself for reasons out of my control.

However, there was one person who showed a complete lack of respect and common sense, which was the drop that filled the glass. I wrote about it in this LinkedIn post - long story short, I wasn't willing to give them a second chance, despite the fact that they could have become a client.

In fact, even if they were ready to buy then and there, I still wouldn't have wanted to work with this person. Their behaviour before the meeting was a huge red flag. For more signs that could indicate a potentially difficult client, watch this video - or click on the image to view it.

Boundaries are important and it's even more important that we respect our own boundaries if we want others to do the same.

You don't have to bend backwards to accommodate unreasonable people and their requests just because they booked a discovery call with you. They are not doing you a favour by working with you and both them and you need to be aware of that.

It's hard to say no to potential revenue, but it's even more difficult to work with a client who doesn't respect you as a professional. Learning to say no is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself and for your business.

What are your thoughts on this, ? Would you have done the same in this situation? Feel free to leave a comment on the LinkedIn post and let me know.

Until next time, stay savvy.

Alisa
