THE REGULAR DIRT

By the time this goes out, I'll be back in the small northern Michigan town I grew up in, taking a break from writing and life for the weekend. One of my good friends from high school was scheduled to get married in a few weeks, and I was supposed to stand up in his wedding too. But--like a lot people's big plans lately--COVID-19 put a stopper on that. On the bright side, at least I don’t have to spend all that money on tux rental and whatnot now, eh? Joking aside, I feel bad for him, and especially terrible for his lady. It only took him like a decade plus two to pop the question and now they have to wait a whole bonus year to get hitched.

The bachelor party was supposed to take place today, but—-surprise, surprise-—that got cancelled too. So, me and the boys did a solid for him and are having a socially distanced get together this weekend. How will we maintain our social distance, you ask? Easy! By carrying around a measuring stick. I'm kidding, of course. We’re going fishing so we’ll just keep a pole’s distance between us. So, more like a measuring rod I guess. Fingers crossed that I catch a couple of nice brookies and come back with a few funny stories to work into my writing. One of us is bound to fall in to the drink at some point.

Oh, and if you haven't picked it up yet the Kindle version of Slab Steele and the Venusian Exchange will be 99 cents for just a few more days.

THE EXTRA DIRTY DIRTY

This week I came up with probably the most disturbing product idea for my website in the form of Mirt’s Dirt Hole Undies. I have some craterball gear on my website, did I mention that? No? Well, I do. I’m kind of a civil servant by trade and have no history in graphic design whatsoever, but I think I did pretty good. Use coupon code STEELEHEAD for fifteen percent off or whatever. I don’t care. But, shoot me an email if you have any questions.

READ OF THE WEEK(ISH): Sky White by Nick Zilic

image

In the last city on Earth, Targg the Black fights in the Pit to the cheers of a dying mankind.

Nick Zilic is looking for reviews of his latest book, Sky White. Nick’s done something really interesting and original here, weaving a unique tale that intertwines the fates of sentient birds and humans in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. It’s a shorter read, perfect for when you're in the mood to veg out and rip through a story in an afternoon. Review copies available in MOBI and ePub, and it’s also on Kindle Unlimited.

Feel free to give Nick a hand with a review if you have time. Reviews are the meat on the sub sandwich of the indie writer. We really like it when you help us double meat our flaring sandwich.

Until next time.
