Maggie put her foot in the stirrup and hoisted herself onto the saddle. It had been several months since she rode a horse. This was welcomed therapy.

“One hour, no less,” Maggie instructed. Spirit trotted toward the nearest path.

Ford pulled his phone from his pocket and set the alarm. He’d give her that one hour and not a minute more.

Spirit seemed to know what Maggie needed turning onto a path that she had never been down. This must be the new trail Ford had cut. “Okay, girl, lead the way.”
